solved Skin Config: Add links to footer template

I want to add links in the footer template that will launch new pages but I'm not sure where the links need to be inserted and what that should look like in the template editor. Any example would or screenshot would be great. I'll check in the video tutorials in the meantime. Thanks.

Use the template editor to edit the footer.tpl template of whichever skin your're using.

So open the footer template:
ACP -> SKINS -> YOUR SKIN -> TEMPLATES -> footer.tpl -> MODIFY

And locate a similar link, copy that and adjust it to how you like it.

I received some help with where the the footer links should be placed within the template.
I knew what area to be working in, the issue was not knowing where to position the code within the footer.tmp.
