Quote re site branding:

Simply edit or replace the following files to change the branding of your site.

Main Header Logo (site wide | width: 236px height: 55px) - skins/jrElastic/img/logo.png
Footer Information - skins/jrElastic/footer.tpl

***
Simply how? Where? Change how? I need a code-free option where I can upload my own logo and text into that area, and choose to make the graphic or text or both together a link to the top page of my site.
Thanks.

Digging further, I found the "Skin Settings" subtab under the ACP when logged in to my site as admin.

There it is very easy to replace the graphic. The trick though is to size your own graphic to the position. There is no obvious-to-me instruction about the A x B pixel or kb/mb limits for this, so it is a matter of trial and error with whatever graphic you are starting with.

Also, it seems that the Jamroom system likes .jpg files but not .gif or .tiff. Not certain about this.

Would like to have a fully-featured FAQ on adding graphics to a Jamroom site as design elements for the site (in contrast to the use of Jamroom by users to upload and showcase graphics etc.). Will keep digging. The ground is deep around here.

These may be the required dimensions. How can they vary? I suppose width is flexible, but greater height will overhang the horizontal border.

width: 236px height: 55px

I think you can change it here
Your Site Url/core/skin_admin/images/
If not- then you can upload your image in skins/images tab- copy that code and use it to replace the current img url in index.tpl which is located in your skin templates
Just saw you may have that figured out..if you want to change the dimensions of your header you will need to do it in the css style sheet- start by looking under the STYLE tab...if not there then use firebug to locate it in the site css...
Im no longer using those skins but I think its there under the STYLE tab somewhere...

What I did was pull a copy of the default JR logo image from my server, and noted its file size and dimensions and file type. Then I created my own logo that was the same type file and general dimensions, and named it the SAME name (I think it was "logo.png"?). Then I replaced the jr file with my own, on my server, in the same location(s). Then refreshed cache and icons.
My own logo then showed up instead of the JR one, and because nothing else had changed (like especially the image file's name), it still worked as a hotlink to Home page. The key thing here is that the system didn't notice anything had changed.
Later on I played around with making that logo and header taller, etc. You want to keep in mind about mobile devices though, and not force it to be too big.
I guess it's just one way of doing this among various ways. I sort of stumbled into it and it worked.

To do mine, I measured the JR logo on the screen with a ruler, found that it has a 1:3 ratio, and used the Skitch app in my computer to compile my own logo with the same ratio and pixels.

For upload I went here (as you suggested):

Yoursite/core/skin_admin/images/skin=jrElastic

When I uploaded that and made it the active image, the hotlink function still worked, even though my logo file name was new.

Thanks

The windows snipping tool works good to to get an image size- start folder-snipping tool- then snip the image and save to desktop- open image look at properties for the dimensions

I just right click any image onscreen and choose "image info" and it tells me the pixel dimensions.
