Today I created the new "Backstage VIP" profile:

http://test.jamroom.net/backstage

that you get access to if you are a Jamroom Developer or a Jamroom Network subscriber. I've posted the first forum post there, but the idea behind the Backstage area is to

- Provide articles and posts that are not as much technical in nature, but are ancillary to running a successful Jamroom site - i.e. marketing, sales, promotion, etc.

- Provide free bonus modules / skins to subscribers

- Provide a "private" place for Jamroom site owners to talk about things without worrying that any URLs they post, or things they say will be indexed by Google or other search engines.

I'd love to get feedback on any thing else you think we could do to enhance the "value" of the Backstage access so it's something that is actually useful beyond just another forum :)

So if you have any feedback, please feel free to add it here or in the Backstage VIP forum.

Thanks!

Brian I like this idea.

Bonus skins might help some sites but I think many of us are tied to one skin due to the customization. I like bonus modules though especially since you guys seem to be able to put them out quicker now.

I would also add a section on having a successful server along with promos, marketing and sales. I know you do not want to be in the server business but some pointers might help out people who run their own server. My server flies man. Just saying lol.

Preferential treatment on enhancement modules? So if I am looking for a mod that does "this" maybe mine gets moved to the top over non-members. Kind of a stretch but could be a perk.

Hi guys.. nice new look..

Speaking of servers..

My service is with jbservers.net..
I have a JR4 site linked to the shoutcast services of jbservers.

I've been unable to find out if the JR5 script will have the shoutcast app.

Brian,
You set up the server for us canadianmusic dot com (clusters etc..) will JR5 work with shoutcast playlists linked to indie103 dot ca..

TIA.

The JR4 Shoutcast setup was something that JBServers created, so it has not been done for JR5. With that said, I know for sure of one other site that really needs this so it's something we're looking into for a future module. But it's not something supported yet in JR5.

Hope this helps!

If you go to self-hosting, look into CentovaCast software. It is the same software JBServers uses. I have the latest version and it is solid. All DJ's can have a login and can start/stop the stream.
