Marketplace module updated

Hey guys -

I just pushed out an updated Marketplace module that adds the ability to define multiple Marketplace backends (i.e. you can have multiple install/update sources). I've got it so on updating the module it should automatically set you up correctly, but if you see any issues please let me know.

You'll see there is a new "Marketplace Systems" tool where additional Marketplaces can be configured. This was done with the idea that down the road there may be additional sites that offer Jamroom compatible modules, and this would allow the site owner to add in those additional marketplaces.

Thanks!

initial reaction: Thought the idea was to have them put their stuff into the marketplace. if they have their own marketplace, seams like it takes away from the markeplaces value no?

"Put your modules in the markeplace so others can install them directly from their jamroom installation and skip the FTP process."

No - that does not change - you'll still install stuff from the Marketplace - this just sets it up so down the road if we want to sell a "sell your software online" package that basically emulates what we are doing here on jamroom.net, we'll be able to do it and the client will be able to work with it.

I'm getting this error when going to the Developer Tools > Global Config tab...

Quote:
You must properly configure the Marketplace module Global Config
with the correct Marketplace Email and Marketplace System ID!

Reload the Marketplace module from the Marketplace -> Tools -> Reload tool - that error message is for the old version of the module.

I just pushed out another small update that should make the setup a little easier, and properly configure The Jamroom Network as a system on install. Let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks!

So this is something that we would host ourselves?

Reload it again - not sure if you reloaded it today but I pushed out more updates last night.

Thanks!

Possibly - you'd have to be running the Marketplace backend on your own server, and that's not something that is even ready for release. I just wanted the functionality to be there from the beginning.

Thanks!

Yeah, I reloaded it again and I'm still seeing the message.

What is odd is the fields it is asking for are not visible in the Market Place Global Config section.

Yeah they are no longer there, and that message is no longer in the module, which is why I'm not sure why you continue to see the problem. Is this on your douglas.jamroomnetwork.com site?

Thanks!

I just logged in on your site and I am not seeing the error - can you let me know where you are seeing it at? Note that there are no modules/skins that can be installed on your site though, since you already have everything that is available installed.

Thanks!

Hmm, its not showing for me now either, very odd.

I remember you saying that we should not use our dev site with the Market Place or install modules via the Market Place on our dev site, is that correct?

I'm thinking about creating a test site on localbandz.com for testing the market place features and changing my dev site back to GIT files only... is that how we should be doing it?

I have 2 installs:

1) my local install on my Mac - I do all my dev work here, and it runs out of my Git repo

2) my test site that I push code to from phpStorm. I wipe it out, install, test, and and basically test on it as if it was a "real" site that was being used.

I don't run the marketplace locally - just Git.

Let me know if that helps.
