We've just uploaded a brand new module - "Like It" that easily allows you to add a like/dislike button to almost any item in your Jamroom:

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/97/like-it

If you are a Jamroom subscriber the module is available now - make sure and check out the Backstage forum for a special post and promo code you can use to pick the module up now at a special price.

If you're not a subscriber, for only $29 per year you can get early access to all releases (14 days early), as well as Backstage access:

https://www.jamroom.net/subscribe

For the first month both yearly and monthly subscriptions are $10 off, so now is a good time to lock in the lower rate if you can.

Thanks!

Great, Brian. Sounds good! But don't you think that this module will compete with the rating module in the system? (just a thought). One will obstruct the other. They seem to be doing almost the same fonction. Like System vs Rating System, what is the difference?

Thanks

Yeah - You probably won't use rating and like on the same item, but you might want ratings for songs and likes/dislikes for blogs, say. You now have the options and flexibility.
In fact, my first idea for a like/dislike option was to use the rating module and I developed a template with love/like/blasé/dislike/hate options instead of stars. That can still be done, of course, but a simpler like/dislike module seemed a better option.
Note that the 'dislike' is optional (as is the 'like'!! - you could have a site with only an option to dislike every item lol)

Hi Paul. Nice job, the module is great. Now I get your point. Your are right, Like for songs and video wouldn't be the best rating feature. Yep for blog posts and comments, it make sens. Approved! ;)

I don't think having a "dislike" function is a good idea.

Yeah I actually agree with you - that's why we only have "like it" on the JR member sites. But the module supports both for those sites that want to implement it.

Thanks!

From a user perspective, it isn't inconceivable that you might dislike something a while after you have liked it. I will always generally support the ability to retract your vote, an endorsement is not a permnant deal at the stroke of a pen, it depends on future performance.

So I like having Likes, and dislike not having the ability to dislike at a later date.

It isn't a fought for vote, it's a Like/Dislike. Of course you can change your mind.

There should be a link in your "blindmime" drop down menu.

Version 1.0.1 of this module has been released - adds a new "Add to Timeline" option to record likes/dislikes to the user timeline.

Marketplace is updated and you can update from the Marketplace -> System Updates.

Let us know if you see any issues.

Thanks!
