Can anyone let me know how I can add the ability to include tags in the search?
I've looked at both search and tags module and can't see where i would enable searching tags as well.

I'm not sure why you would need tags in the search since they can already be clicked and take you to a results page for that tag.

Or am I misunderstanding what your trying to do?

I was going to follow up here and say they were already registered to use search, but checking the code they are not. I've got it on my todo to get search support registered in the module (it requires an update to the module).

I also noticed this...

Admin creates a page for the 'site' and adds a tag or two. Clicking the tag link in the tag cloud takes you to the admin profile to show the page. If the admin profile is set to private then the tags don't show in the cloud.

Does this make sense?

Anything created by a profile that is set to private will not appear in lists (this includes the tag cloud) to users who are not admins.

Hope this helps!

Does that include pages that the admin has created via the ACP?

Yes - if they are on the admin profile. If the have been created for the "site", then no.

Hope this helps!

I still can't figure this out. As admin, I'd like to create site pages (not profile pages) that will show tags in the cloud while at the same time have the admin profile private. This is do-able but, clicking on the cloud tag resulting list item, JR wants to take me to the admin profile to see the page. Problem being, the profile is set to private. To see this in action see http://www.s2k.biz tag cloud and click 'bookings'

You would need to do something custom for this, since privacy protection is baked in at the core level. Your best bet might be to create a profile you specifically used for posting things that you don't have to make private.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for that, Brian.

So basically, if admin creates site pages via ACP it's not in the admin interest to have a private profile.

Not if you want the viewer to link through to the profile.

I don't want to link to the profile, I just want it to link to the site page(s).

Then you should have no problem. You indicated however that you did not like the tag cloud, that when clicked on, would go to the profile - you're going to see an issue if the profile is private and a user clicks on a tag in the tag cloud.

Ah, so the tag cloud is just for profiles, not all pages. Is that right?

Sorry for being such a dumbo with this.

Yeah pretty much - there is a "site" level tag cloud you can use, but if a profile is private then you could have tags that link into a private profile. This is because a tag is owned by the user that created the tag - not the profile the item that was tagged belongs to.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks!

I understand now, thanks Brian.

It is a pity that links go to e.g. http://www.s2k.biz/s2kadmin/page/1/about rather than, http://www.s2k.biz/page/1/about

At least I now know why it's doing what it's doing.

Cheers.

If you create the page as a "site" page (and not a profile page) then it will go there.

Hope this helps!

That's what I originally thought would happen. The admin profile has (or should have) no content at all... all the pages I created via ACP were supposed to be for the main site and not the admin profile.

Where are you seeing the links pointing into the admin profile then - just from the tags?

Thanks!

Yes, just the tags. Having said that, I do have links in the admin menu when logged in, and the drop-down menu links take me to the correct (non-profile) page, but it was the tag links that give me concern as they don't get visitors to the intended page.

Yeah the problem is that tags are owned by the user that created the tag, so it's going to go to the admin page. I can look at excluding tags created by private profiles however, if the viewer does not have privileges to access them.

I'll check that out.

Hope this helps!

I added tag_text in the search global config
If I search for Punk ( which I know is a tag ) it returns white page with this
CRI: Unable to copy modules/jrTags/templates/item_list.tpl to template cache directory: data/cache/jrCore
Everything else seems to work fine ( audio_genre etc )
Any fix?

Tags is not setup for search at this time - that's why you are getting an error (see my post near the very top).

I'm working on adding it in.

Thanks!

I just uploaded a new Tags module that has search support - it's a but trickier than other modules, as it will show the items that have been tagged (instead of showing a list of tags) - check it out.

Hope this helps!
