I think we've all felt this way at some point:

Remember why you started building this stuff: for the intrinsic satisfaction :)

One thing I've slowly developed over the last 10+ years doing Jamroom is a thicker skin - I'm much more comfortable saying "no" now than I eve was before - and not because I WANT to say no (I mean I love hacking and building cool stuff, so more often than not I want to say "yes"), but because I've realized I can't make everyone happy all the time.

You make me happy most of the time Brian.

And I really do appreciate it.

Thanks man!

You know the funny thing is you make 50 people happy and piss off 10. Rarely if ever can you please everyone so I gave up trying some time ago. You definitely develop a thicker skin over the years getting yelled at. Even moving to JR5 I had people leaving because they could not handle the change. Too complicated! I was scratching my head on that.

That's a pretty good ratio.

Isn't it?

I think so. As far as I know I only lost 4-5 when I went to JR 5.

It hilites ok for me, but it remains hilighted for a while after I have visited. (the posts count button its still orange now).

I visited all 70 posts to mark them all read in the Using Jamroom forum, but that didn't work (neither did the "mark all as read" button. that forum is permantnetly orange.

Thanks!

Yes. I clicked forum from the breadcrumbs, both that forum and this one still show as orange.

I'll post this and take another look.

Thanks Steve - I think I see what might be happening here - I'll have to dig in a little deeper in the AM, but I think somewhere in there the profile_id is not being set properly (since I saw 2 different entries in your view data for the using-jamroom forum, when there should be 1).

Let me know if you guys see any more issues with this 0 it's working well for me here now, and I think the root cause was that there were some "old" view entries in the view table that were still being returned in the query, but were not the ones being updated.

I've removed those and I think everything should be working correctly.

Thanks!

Fixed for me as well.

But just now after visiting this thread (by clicking on the link in the email), I then clicked the forum breadcrumb above and this Off Topic forum showed as unread.

Clicked back into the thread, and then back to the categories view and it showed as read.

Did you click the "page 1" link or the "off topic" link? If it was the "page 1" link I think I might know what it is.

Thanks!

just noticed the reverse of this. since yesterday none of the items in on the top level forum were yellow, so thought things were slow around here.

all today too, no comments, hmm, very slow.

then clicked on "using jamroom" and there are a TON of yellow lights on. oops.

ill go read them now.
