...because I remember how frustrating it was for me to set up the 'badges' on my site using that same 3rd party badge module. There's a whole BUNCH of code in my custom skin on the profile page template just to get the boring little banner which only appears under a member's profile page picture.
Not saying it's a bad module, but it's outdated and is convoluted to make it work, and I can't get it to do what i 'really' want to do- which is apply little stars or other custom images I make, to a corner of avatar images of profiles in a certain quota.
For example, I want all users in Admin/moderator quota to have a yellow star on their avatar that appears EVERYWHERE their avatar picture shows up...IN THEIR POSTS, ...not just a little strip banner under their name and picture only seen on their profile page.
On my site, I wound up manually photoshopping in a star on the 7 avatars jpgs of us moderators and then uploading the new avatars...so it looks like the the attached below. Pretty crude method that works in a pinch for us few moderators who don't change much, but I can't do that for dozens of members who might change badge status frequently!
Some of my members purchase ads on my site, and I'd like a little badge on their avatars to indicate a currently active site Sponsor. Other members are generous donors, and I'd like to reward them with a little badge on their avatar as a Patron.
This is a common feature of many online social sites and forums. I'm pretty sure lots of Jamroom site owners would love to have this.
For years I've thought it'd be great to have a simpler module made by JR that wouldn't require so much effort to figure out how to get it working.
I'd love to have it be a simple process to put members into various badge quotas and have an insignia appear on all their POSTS, in their avatar picture wherever it appears (and on their profile page picture as well of course). I'd like to upload my own images OR choose simple default ones like colored stars, trophy cups, a microphone or musical note, a thumbs up, etc. It's be nice to have the option of applying it in various sizes and positions: small/med/large, and choice of any corner, top, or bottom (top or bottom would make sense if you're uploading a custom image of a word, like "Sponsor").
Just thought I'd throw this into the "Suggestions" forum since I saw that new thread with the other fellow struggling as I did with the old badges 3rd party module. Thanks!
