Does This Still Exist? Auto Welcome Message

Way back when Jamroom was written in COBOL, (ok a stretch there but you get the idea) there used to be a feature that when a user would signup, we could auto send a welcome message. Does this still exist?

Thanks!

There is the initial email that goes out.

Its in the email template
/modules/jrUser/templates/email_account_activated_message.tpl
/modules/jrUser/templates/email_account_activated_subject.tpl

So is overrideable via
/skins/YOUR SKIN/jrUser_email_account_activated_message.tpl
/skins/YOUR SKIN/jrUser_email_account_activated_subject.tpl

Or via
ACP -> USERS -> USERS -> TEMPLATES -> email_account_activated_message.tpl

You could maybe use the Email Course module to do this - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/604/email-course

Just my two cents, but I think it'd be so much better to have an auto welcome message be in the form of a comment on the new member's profile page comment wall. The admin could have it be from themselves or from a 'welcome profile' they create or designate. And one could change up the comment's wording every once in a while so it doesn't get stale. That way all members would see it on the new member's page, instead of it being just a private email to the new member.
Another benefit of a welcome comment instead of an email would be that the new member would (in most site default setups) get a notification that there was a new 'comment' on their page... helping them to not only get to their page again but also helping to get them used to how the site functions.
I know this was brought up by someone else before, maybe I can find the thread...

Thanks all. I think before it was based on quota. The reason for me wanting to do this is it is not for a “welcome” message per se. When I set this up before I used it as a training module for navigating the site. I had video for how to upload, edit and delete songs etc. This way when the user is activated, there is no searching needed for how to do something because they have it in an email.

Ah, I see! In that case why wouldn't it work to just edit the email sent out by the system upon new member approval, as Michael suggested above? I added a few 'site navigation tips' to that email text for my own site a couple years ago to help new members. The edit in that welcome email definitely helped reduce the instances when new members would mindlessly click 'reply' to site notification emails ...when they actually want to post on the site or reply to a comment on the site. Wording is everything when helping new members.

Thé E-mail Course module sounds ideal for what you want then. Just send the ‘training’ email upon account activation, then optionally follow up with more ‘lessons’ if necessary.
