My current hosting company deleted my site and they don't have a good backup copy. Luckly, I have an old backup copy. Need help installing the backup copy of jamroom ver 4 and then upgrade to newer version of jamroom.

Hi - What do you have as the backup? All the files from The JR4 site? Do you also have the database download?
Thanks

If you have a total backup, then there should be no problem. First we just need to find hosting for you that is on PHP 5.2 or older, get JR4 installed, then "import" to a brand new JR6 install running on PHP7+

If you'd like us to assist with this let us know :)

Thanks!

If you already have the hosting for your JR4 site and you have the backups, what point are you stuck at?

That means the site cant connect to the database. You have created the database on the server and restored your backup copy to your server?

I really don't remember much about how JR4 works, need to read the docs.

The doc you want is probably this one:

if you're still unable to connect v4 to the database you have a zip file named setting.zip I'll attach the file if you don't have it.

1.) UnZip and upload settings.php
2.) upload settings.php to mail directory
3.) go to your URL/settings.php

this will give you access to set the connection to the database

I'm testing the 6.x Pro version on my home server to see if upgrading is what I want to do. I'm upgrading from v4.31 to 6 and hope I don't have to install v5.x before I go to 6.x

If you need additional send me PM(only if it's OK with the JR team)

No problem by us you helping others out, feel free. :)

No you don't need to go to 5 before going to 6.
