About smart phones and the text editor

I have a question about smartphones and the text editor. It seems that we have full text editing for making a comment, but not posting a discussion. Why is that and is it possible to get the same capabilities for the smartphones?
Thanks,
Perrie~

The text editor is not responsive, so does not work on the small screen of a smartphone. On a phone you will get a text box for entering text. Sorry!

I don't understand Brian. We have it for comments. Why would it be different for posting a discussion?

You should not see the editor on a phone - you SHOULD see it on a table. The editor does not actually work properly on a phone. My guess is you are using a "phablet" that masquerades as a tablet.

No Brian, it's an iphone. It seems that my members who use Iphones can do this.
Please don't change this now that I told you. I will lose all my phone members. But that is why I am asked you in the first place.

The editor is showing up on an iphone, it shouldn't be, its a mess.

What Brian said above is correct. By default, if Jamroom detects that an editor field is being shown on a mobile device, it will change it to a textarea field. This is embedded in the core of Jamroom.
The comment entry field is controlled by the Comment module template comment_form.tpl and again, by default, this template tests for a mobile device and makes the same change accordingly.
However, I do recall this same conversation some time ago and the upshot was that you requested that this template be modified to remove this test, so that is why you are seeing the editor for a comment entry on mobile devices on your site.
Hope that makes sense.

Hi Paul,
I kind of remember that discussion, but I wasn't sure how it was resolved or the reason why. I really need to keep my text editor for the comments, so please don't take it away from me (I see that Michael thinks it's a mess). I will lose a bunch of members if you do. In fact, it is this bunch that is complaining about not having it for writing discussions.
Thanks
