I went in to timeline settings to make it so no one can post a status update so it can be used more as just a feed showing the things posted on our site forums, blogs etc. But after i clear cache and go look the staus update option is still showing ? using beta too

The timeline is central to the follow me skin - not sure if you can actually turn it completely off - especially for admin users. We can check it out though.

im ok with the staff or admin being able to use it but since i dont have native comments installed it confuses some since they think they can ask a question via status update but no one can answer. so i figured i would let the timeline simply be like a feed showing things but not actually something that is used for communication.

if disqus was able to be attached to status updates as a way to comment then it wouldnt matter really but since it isnt i figured just take the easy way out and just disable status updates

Each timeline entry has it's own unique URL that comments will appear on, so you should be OK there.

Hm.. I'm not really sure what you are trying to do. First you say you want to turn off timeline STATUS updates, and now you want to turn off Disqus for timeline entries? You jus said that you want to turn off the STATUS updates since people were using OTHER status updates to leave comments, instead of using Disqus. So I have no idea what you are trying to accomplish.

Sorry!

There should be Disqus comments there - we will check it out.

lmao sorry man i guess what i am trying to say is it would be cool to use disqus on everything even status updates but if i cant use it on status updates i would just turn status updates off but keep the timeline on just without the option to post anything physically in it just let it show when people post blogs and forums videos etc.
