solved Group Email - no automatic mention of group?

I have sent and received a couple of Group Emails recently and noticed that the emails don't include a link back to the group.
If the group leader doesn't specifically mention the group name in the subject line or the email, or insert a link, there would be no way of knowing which group it came from.

It would be great for group emails to include a link back to the group automatically. Is that something other users would want?

The email message sent is currently just what the group owner creates in the editor. Are you suggesting that a (template controlled) footer is appended to any message so that there would be a like to the group by default?

Another option might be to include the link in the editor by default when composing the email. That way the group owner will see it and have the option of using it, or deleting it.

What do you think?

My memory on this is a bit vague, but I seem to recall that when JR Groups were first created (as a feature for former Ning site owners), the email notifications coming from Group discussions simply sent people to the Group's main page. That was too vague and caused confusion for notified members about where the new post was located. I seem to recall that we asked JR team to change this so the emailed link would take on directly to that new post in the particular group discussion... which they kindly did for us.

@brian Either of those options would suit me. I can't think of a situation where the group leader wouldn't want to include a link to the group, so an automatic inclusion in the footer would work - which ever would be easier.

@strumelia you are correct in what you say - notification emails for updates of group discussions do include a link to the new comment in the discussion. I am referring specifically to Group Emails, sent by a group leader to all members of the group using the Group Emailer feature.

Ah, sorry- I didn't understand! Yes I see... 'group emails', sent out by the group leader to all group members. :)

I'm adding this into the next release of the GroupMailer module.

Additional question, if anyone can point me in the right direction please...?

It appears that group emails are being sent as plain text - hyperlinks are not included, only the text string is sent.
Is there a setting that will allow me to send fully formatted Group Emails?

This is a little off-topic for the present thread, but when html links for pages inside a network are included in emails sent to outside the network, I imagine that the links ...

(A) need to be full links of the type: https://Yoursite/whatever/whatever page

not simply (B): /whatever/whatever page

Or does a JR site automatically append the site prefix to internal links when emails are sent out, into the wild?

I just tried a test email.
These links were sent
pmp-art.com/pinwheel/gallery/211846/tree-in-the-marsh
and
https://pmp-art.com/pinwheel/gallery/211846/tree-in-the-marsh

The links appeared that way in the received email. Both linked to the page without a problem.

I included an @ link to my username and that just appeared as text, it was not converted to @lorna-webber

I also sent a hyperlink and that worked perfectly too.

nope. It would be a mistake to.

Conversation:
".....Yeah I have 2 sites that both have exactly the same URL structure, siteA.com and siteB.com. When I go to /whatever/whatever page on either of them, the results are different......."

If you want it to be a full url, add the full url.
