Somewhere along recent updates -inside the tinymce editor I can no longer select an image thats placed in an article and add a link to it- the mouse will not allow highlighting images and the image editing box that was loading beneath the highlighted image is no longer appearing
Thanks

I'm seeing the same thing.
I go to a post (my own or someone else's) that has an image embedded inside it... click to EDIT the post. Then in the editor window i click on the image and no longer get the 'edit/delete' drop down little option, and no longer even get the handles on the highlighted image in order to drag it larger or smaller. I can still edit the post's text just fine...but not the image.
For example, in this thread, JR Team if you still have my login, try editing any post that has an embedded image:
https://fotmd.com/forums/forum/off-topic-discussions/15188/pets-and-dulcimers
...I can no longer easily edit the image if I go to edit a post.

Using Elastic and all current versions I see all the editing options but when trying to add a link to an image can't save the link.

In the browser console:
Quote:
too much recursion[Learn More] map.js:12:385
too much recursion[Learn More] map.js:12:385
IndexSizeError: Index or size is negative or greater than the allowed amount
Every time I click the link Save button IndexSizeError happens/increments

On FF i get the image resizing handles when highlighting the image, but no edit/delete options. On Chrome I don't even get the handles to resize.

Bet its the HTML content in the editor.

GUESS: You've copy+pasted the contents to tinymce and there is other weird elements that came along for the ride. Something about those other html elements is preventing you from clicking on the image you want to link.

use the CODE button in the tinymce editor to see the HTML of that page to look for what the issue might be.

A way to test this is to open a new editor and add JUST an image and then try to link that. If it links, then the issue is not the linking, the issue is the content of the other editor.

No url but its close to unmodified on jamroom hosting. I'm not using the blog or tiny mce, jsut gave it a test after reading this thread.
Map.js is from a googlemaps field, so I removed that field and still the same problem.
The quote above are the errors in the browser console.
No html errors - its an unmodified blog update form in an unmodified elastic.

Additionally, if I rotate or flip the image and save the blog then the image is deleted from the blog post. No console or log errors.

I have also checked that on a beta 6.1.0b1 site, and flipping or rotating the image also deletes it when updating. However, the link works perfectly in beta.

Yeah, it's frustrating. I can no longer easily reduce the size of an embedded image buy just pulling the handles, when a member embeds a huge jpg into a post. That's the issue I noticed right away...and as Curtis wrote, "the image editing box that was loading beneath the highlighted image is no longer appearing"...that's on both FF and Chrome for me.

I've just tested adding links to images here (running 6.1) and I'm seeing no issues, so I suspect this is a bug in the TinyMCE package that's part of 6.0.7. I can also grab the image and resize no problem as well.

You could, but the problem is that we don't update TinyMCE with every core release - only every couple months. You would have to roll back all the way to Core 6.0.0b5 to get the older version of TinyMCE.

How long has this been an issue? Makes me think something else is interfering with the functionality.

Just noticed it a few days ago...I have not made any changes to the tinymce....but now images are not clickable- the box to edit the images is not appearing and this morning when I tried to add something it deleted the image altogether...had to use "Control-Z" to get the code back

Upgrading to the latest TinyMCE is pretty easy - give me a bit here to put together a ZIP of the latest - you can then manually install that into the modules/jrCore/contrib/tinymce directory.

If that fixes it great - if not, then there's something else going on on your site that is interfering with it (likely Javascript).

OK - download this ZIP file and unzip it on your computer - it will create a single directory called "tinymce". Upload it to your Jamroom site and OVERWRITE the existing modules/jrCore/contrib/tinyce directory.

Yes, uploading that tinymce.zip file does fix the issue in both Firefox and Chrome.

--edit--
INFO: That version of tinymce.zip is included in JR6.1 currently in beta.

CURTIS- Did that work for you?- are you now getting the 'edit' window and the resizing handles back in your embedded images on Chrome and FF?

Before I apply this I'll need to dig back in time to find where I tweaked the tnymce editor code to make the editor menu the way i like it, so I can tweak it again after this update. --I just wanted to check if this update worked for Curtis before i go digging for my old tweaks. That old thread is here somewhere... =8-\
Thanks!

I'm suspecting you did NOT change any of the actual tinymce Javascript code - you probably just customized the "editor.tpl" file in the ACP -> System Core -> Templates section.

The ZIP file I posted is not related to that file.

Brian- I think maybe you are right about that! I check on that when i have a moment, hopefully tonight.

Curtis- the highlight/link/handles functions would be all I really need- so that's good news, thank you! Will try to get to this update this evening... am working most of today under a deadline.

This fix worked. Although I no longer get the handy "Edit/Delete" drop down box when highlighting/selecting the embedded image. Unlike Curtis, i used that a lot. But I can live without it.
Just real happy to be able to select the image and grab the image handles to resize it in place again!
Thanks for the solution. :)
