Audio Pro - Slow Audio Load on iPhone

Trying to figure out what might be the cause of this. I checked the AP Demo and it on the index page chart player it is taking about 3 seconds for audio to play. Mine is more like 10 seconds and people are assuming the players do not work.

Desktop is immediate.

Any ideas?

I would check your audio files sizes. Higher bitrates are not ideal for mobile. The larger the files is the slower the buffer will be.

Hey Nate. I am testing with wifi not cellular data so the file size should not play into it. It used to be immediate and now it is kind of a crazy load time. Just not sure if it is server, js or something more sinister hehe.

Testing here on my iPhone it took almost 15 seconds to start up, so yeah - something is making it really slow. I tried on my dev site and it starts in about 2 seconds, so there's definitely something going on. I'd have to look at the code, but the stream view doesn't treat mobile any different than desktop, so it should receive the file just as fast as the desktop.

Yeah no one has complained in several years so when I saw this something seemed up. I flipped my skin back to ProJam and it was the same so I am really scratching my head here.

Sorry about not following up here, but I only see this happening on your site, so it is something unique to your site. Have been very busy this week so have not looked at in depth.

Is there anything you can think of on your site that could be custom that is checking or doing something with streaming?

Hey Brian - It happens if I go to the default Audio Pro Skin as well. That was one of the first things I thought about.

No, it doesn't. My delay on iPod is 2 seconds tops. Every song has to buffer.

OK I think I see where you were going. When I said it happens on the Default Audio Pro, that is on my site when I change the skin. I think you were looking at the demo. My first post mentioned that the demo works fine.

I'm not sure if it will help, but let me know when you've updated to Core 6.0.7 - previously streams were limited to 50mbps, and it could be that on your server it has a hard time reading the chunks fast enough to get a good "buffer size" out for iOS (maybe iOS needs a larger buffer before streaming?) - that's been removed in 6.0.7.

Thanks!
