solved User reports "Stay Logged In" doesn't work

I'm assuming we're using a cookie to figure out if a user wants to stay logged in? She says she clicked that box numerous time and she's always logged out. After logging in, she's forwarded to her profile, not the place she was trying to reach.

I know this works in general because it works for me, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on what to check to help her troubleshoot this?

Does she have cookies disabled in her browser settings?

In your Users module (jrUser), under Global/Accountsettings tab... do you have these settings as you want them? see screenshot.
As Douglas says- your member should check her browser settings- sometimes people have their browsers set to delete cookies every time they leave a page or site. Or she may have to enter your site URL in her browser to allow cookies for your site.

I've seen this too on occasion here on jamroom.net. Using it for months always logged in, then a spat for a week or so when I had to login every other day and since then a many weeks when I havent had to login.

So there are some circumstances that cause the need to re-login. I THINK in my case (not sure, hard to tell) that the issue was FireFox browser was being updated. I suspect that as the cause of it but not sure.

Been working fine lately though.

I concur with Michael a lot of the times it's down to the browser. It was happening to me a while back on a number of sites and after an update resolved itself.

She says she has cookies enabled and mine is the only web site that doesn't keep her logged in.

Thanks for the screenshot! I changed the cookies as permanent and the timeout as yours. Maybe that will help.

It should help in some cases Elise.
However even with these settings, it seems this issue sometimes comes and goes, as the others have noted. Happens to me, my moderators, and my members all occasionally and randomly. Again as others in this thread have said, I've noticed that after a week or two of logging in frequently, it tends to 'stick' for several months before acting up again- so I too believe it may be related to browser updates...which JR has little control over. Tell her she's not alone, and that it tends to resolve itself after a while.
