solved Changing quota when Admin approved pending user

When a new user is pending (we use Admin Validation), I go to the profile, change the quota to "member" and then approve the pending user.

Is there a way to automatically assign the member quota when I click the approve button?

Just want to make sure there's not a shortcut I don't know :)

Thanks!

There is no shortcut. When you approve them, they will go into the quota that they signed up to. If you want them to go into a different quota, make that the quota they sign up to.

I'm going to see if I remember this right. I think I read a post here somewhere that advised us to set only ONE quota with "allows signup"

That way the applicants will all automatically be in that quota, and you need only move the few who belong in a separate quota.

I hope I'm right. [We're still developing, so haven't tested this.]

Hope this is helpful and correct,

Thanks Michael for the confirmation!

Where would the user go if you didn't "change the quota to member"?

Holly that's right. In your Modules, under Users, then Quota Config...
Choose your quota in the drop down menu and set the little checkbox for each quota to "allow signups" or NOT. (Don't forget to 'save your changes' at bottom for each quota you configure there.)

On my site, i 'allow signups' for only my 'regular member' quota. That way new applicants are always automatically put into that quota. If I want to change them to another quota I can, but 99% of my members will be regular members so it's easier to have them be that automatically WHEN THEY JOIN MY SITE...unless I want to change their quota myself.

If you check the box to "allow signups" on more than one quota BTW, a new applicant will get a drop down with a choice as to which quota they want to belong to, and they can choose. Obviously, not advisable to check the box for Master admin this way... lol.

-Elise, I had the same question as Michael- why are you needing to 'change the quota to member' if they are automatically set as a member already? Doesn't seem to add up- are you sure you only have ONE signup quota enabled/checked?

They are set as "pending" quota when they sign up (with almost no privileges), not "member" :

Suggest removing the "pending" quota as it seams un-needed since you are doing the approvals manually.

Currently the member has to wait for you to approve them before they can login.

Make the "Member" quota the signup quota, then set the signup method to "Admin Validation" at:
ACP -> MODULES -> USERS -> USERS -> TOOLS -> QUOTA CONFIG

Yes Elise, Michael has outlined the shortcut you are looking for. No need for a 'pending' quota at all if the one quota you set for 'allow signups' is set for "Admin approval" anyway. You can eliminate the mostly redundant extra step there Just use the regular member as your 'signups allowed' but with Admin Approve checked.
