I'm trying to update the email settings, but the updated SMTP User Name in delivery settings won't 'take'. Saving reloads the screen as you would expect, but after a fraction of a second, the new email address is replaced by the old one.

Very curious, but members aren't getting notifications, and I would like to try and fix it...

Are you setting the Delivery Method setting to "External SMTP server"?

Thanks!

Yes indeed, and that takes fine...

EDIT: Of course, I can't tell if the password is updating, as I can't see it....

You can tell if the password is updating by the number of characters displayed. use a 4 digit password, then change to a 10 digit password.

I'm trying to emulate but not totally sure of the steps. This is working for me:
ACP -> MODULES -> COMMUNICATION -> DELIVERY SETTINGS
* change the SMTP username to something then save
* change the SMTP username to something else then save

Result is: it saves.

Are those the same steps you're outlining?

That's exactly the steps I'm following. Password change is not 'taking' either. Port changes and delivery method save fine.

try turning on developer mode to disable the caches while you save it. see if that fixes it.
ACP -> MODULES -> DEVELOPER -> DEVELOPER TOOLS -> GLOBAL CONFIG -> run in developer mode.

Try logging out and logging back in again. that will reset the form session.

Have tried turning on developer mode, logging out and in again, and I think this has solved the problem. I say think, as I also used a different browser.

There is a possibility that the setting had saved, but that on refreshing the form, Chrome was auto filling it as an email address field.

I have successfully sent a test email, now, and all is well with Email Core. Thanks for your help!
