I'm revisiting making a skin from scratch. I think it's been several versions past that Michael made a series of videos about doing that. Do they still apply? Are there new things to consider?

I'd like a quick way to take an existing HTML template and jamroom it. One of the things that hooked me into jamroom with version 4 (I started when version 2 first came out, actually) was how easy it was to build into a template (at least the site index). There was very little to be done to make it jrReady.

I've not see the videos so can't say if they still apply... I'd say the only difference now would be if you want your skin to work with the Site Builder module.

JR5 skins are also responsive skins unlike JR4 skins/themes, but that may be covered in the videos.

Yea, @Michael videos still apply. I don't use the Site Builder module, but would assume that if you want that functionality in a new template there will have to be some items to consider.

might look at the bootstrap version I made:
https://github.com/ussher/bootstrap

It has the bits and pieces separated out into .css files in it.

The other thing is the Admin Skin module, it allows you to use a separate skin for the admin, profile, and site areas. So if you only want to make a skin for one section, use the Admin Skin module and use Elastic (or whatever) for the admin panel and profile, and your blank skin for the front end.

Oh, that is brilliant, Michael -- xxBootstrap is exactly what I wanted!

I may even change the name of my first born to Michael; this is so awesome. She's 24, but I think given the circumstances she will be honored.

:) You probably will find stuff that doesn't line up exactly, fork it and add your fixes where you find them.

I'm seeing a couple things, but this is really nice, Michael. I threw this together in a couple hours while I was waiting at a car repair shop yesterday: http://intrajam.com -- I've been using Jamroom as an Intranet for the company I work for, so I'm wanting to explore that a bit more with this website. And basically sort of fanboy all over Jamroom.

I'm not familiar with forking it.

I've noticed some pages aren't contained and putting this at the bottom of header.tpl helps those cases:
