solved Do "Private Notes" have an outbox?

In my "Private Notes" I can send messages, and receive messages, but there is only an inbox: Your Private Notes - inbox

Should I be able to see an outbox where my sent messages are stored?

It would be useful to be able to see that a newly written message has actually been sent by looking at the contents of an outbox.

Just now I was drafting a private message, and it disappeared unexpectedly when I touched my cursor somehow.

Perhaps I accidentally clicked on the send button, but I cannot confirm this because there is no obvious outbox.

Is it possible to set up an outbox in the ACP somewhere?

Best wishes for the New Year...

Currently there is no outbox. I'll add it to our feature requests list though as it is pretty normal for email to be able to see what you sent.

Thanks.

Personally, I got used to the non-sent box arrangement on JR because now each email can be seen as the entire threaded sequence of back and forth messages between two people by clicking on the "expand all replies" button for that stream of to/from private messages. For me, that feels tidy and easy to keep track of.
Since we cannot send private notes to more than one person, we don't need CC lists of recipients like in 'regular' email.
When I 'expand all replies', the messages I have SENT are all there listed chronologically, along with their precise timestamp of when they were sent out...so I know they were sent- what I wrote and when sent.
But yeah I wouldn't mind an official Sent box either, but PJ- I just wanted to be sure you were aware of the 'expand all replies' listing of private messages in a neat thread, both IN and OUT messages.

The way Private Notes are setup on JR really negates the need for a "sent box" - all your notes are visible in order like @strumelia pointed out.

Unless having a sentbox gains us features that users are clamoring for, I would prefer to keep it like it is - adding extra tabs or sections will add an additional layer of confusion for users.

Dear Brian,

Thanks. I have played around with the Private Notes a little more and it works nicely.

I think the problem is in the labelling. Our "In box" is not just an inbox.

The current label is: Your Private Notes - inbox

Perhaps it should be: Your Private Notes - in/out box

I cannot find the label in the Language settings for Private Notes in ACP. I do see a "Sent box" label there - is it not actually used?

If your looking for "inbox" it is just above "sent box" in the ACP > Communication > Private Notes > Language tab.

PJ- you've identified the confusing issue. :)
Thanks!

I've changed the language where Paul indicated, to "Messages Box"... partly so I don't introduce a forward slash if using "in/out box". Forward slashes can be weird.
Works great and is less confusing for members. :)

ST-thanks,

On my network, I changed the phrase to "sent and received" (and used lower-case).

Now the full title looks like this:

Your Private Notes - Sent And Received

Notice that "sent and received" became capitalised on all words.

When I copy and the paste the title into the present window it becomes:

Your Private Notes - sent and received

So the system knows I wrote lower-case but only shows upper-case.

I am still hoping that titles can be formatted in a WYSIWYG manner!

Perhaps I should start a new thread for this matter.

Hey i love that!- now i too have changed it to "sent and received". :)

PJ, here is how you can change it to NOT capitalize every word unless you want it to (not exactly wysiwyg, but you CAN control font auto-capitalizing):

Go to your active SKIN, and to the tab for Style, and the "advanced tab of Style.
Using the drop down menu, go through each .css file and look for ones that include an option for "Text Transform"- you can set the options to capitalize, or in this case set to "None". For the Private notes "sent and received" title, you'll find it's controlled in the banner.css file. Set to None, SAVE, clear cache, and you should be able to see or reset the "sent and received" text and it won't get automatically capitalized. I believe all of them are set to capitalize first letter by default. "None" is a handy setting for example if you want something like "Join a new Group"- with the words "a new" not capitalized. "None" simply obeys the way you've typed it in.

Likewise, if you do the same for header.css, your top site menu links can be all lower or all upper case, or first letter capitalized, or simply None if you want it to be cased as you've typed it in...meaning no auto converting case for you.

Go through all your skin Style .css files looking for the "text transform" options and you can experiment to see where they show up. The CSS file name can provide a hint, but sometimes it's not very apparent until you look around for your applied change.
