Robert, the error looks to be being caused by the instructions to rename ccCometChat to ccCometChat_old.

This results in a:
....PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ccCometChat_meta() (previously declared in....
error because you then have 2 modules with the same function names in the system.

If cometchat would package and upload the module to their marketplace here on jamroom:
https://www.jamroom.net/cometchat/networkmarket

The marketplace will take care of revision history and allow the possibility to revert if the admin desires.

Removing the ccCometChat_old will fix the problem for users.

I too bought the $250 version of CC well before the CC Jamrrom module came out.
I still have about 3 months left on my free 1 year's worth of CC updates...but I've still got my original version...because I've been scared of updating due to the weirdnesses that seem to always accompany other people's updates through CC/JR system. First Zack, then another JR member, now Soaring.
I wish to heck i could update my CC version before I run out of my free update year. But I don't really know which version I'm supposed to get- the CC website listing versions gives me no clue at all...just a page listing dozens of versions, with no concrete guidance for knowing which version i should update to. The version numbers are very confusing- with two different numbering systems.
I asked CC support, but was simply directed to the update page list of many versions. I can't use the JR module, because it's for the CC Basic version...while I already own the more expensive version. Not really happy about this situation I'm stuck in.

All I really want to do is get my CC up to date before my 1 year free updates runs out. I can't mess around experimenting because my site is live and my members love chatting every day- I don't want it to fall apart or have fewer features if I do the wrong thing or choose the wrong version for my license.

5.7.0
ofcourse you want the newest version
then select jamroom for integration

upload the files to modules as directed
but you wiill get an email asking if you want help upgrading dont do the install, or activate the module reply to the email tell them yes you want help
explain the situation
(change comettchat to cometchat_or\ld and remove the js call from skin footer) activvate and install should do it but i always have trouble with user login so ask them for hands on help installing

@strumelia Can I request you to please raise this issue here https://my.cometchat.com/tickets
and share the ticket number here or on our FB page inbox https://www.facebook.com/CometChat/

I'll escalate this after you've done so and we'll dedicate a senior support engineer to resolve this.

@soaringeagle Can we have an inbox conversation? I would like to understand how you're using CometChat and get some valuable feedback from one of our power users :)

Robert, I will do this (again, as I did it previously without being able to move forward from getting comepletely confused on the vast 'versions' page) I'm not on FB so I will now open a ticket with my above post content, and I'll share the ticket number here in this thread. Thanks.

Ok, so Robert- I created a new ticket: request/761359930-132141
Though I may have created 3 identical new tickets since after clicking "create ticket" I did not see the new ticket in my ticket list yet nor get any indication that my click did anything...until receiving an email a minute later. Sorry, you may have to delete any extra identical tickets- all three are the same.
They appear to be: request/761359930-132141, request/761359930-132142, request/761359930-132143.
Anyway, they are submitted.

OK update-
Thank you Robert, the CC tech team did install my new update- thank you so much.

I have a couple of glitches, the main one is one I had when i first installed CC many months ago.
I believe there may have been help from the Jamroom team as well in order to fix it, since it had to do with User id numbers vs. Profile id numbers.

The member avatars are mixed up in chat. Their names are correct. It's due to the fact that, as ONE example:

member Dan has a USER id of 446. Member Fred has a USER id of 445.
Dan has a PROFILE id of 447. Fred has a PROFILE id of 446.
Result?= When Dan is in the Chatrooms, his name is showing correctly, but he has Fred's avatar picture.

This is causing some problems, needless to say- everyone has another person's avatar picture. This issue is repeated for ALL members.

How can this be fixed? I know that between the CC team and the JR team, it got fixed last time, back in June 2015 in one of my CC support tickets.

I elaborated more HERE rather than in my CC ticket because I could not post screenshots in CC tickets. Below are two screenshots showing the User# vs Profile# problem.
Thanks to anyone for your help!

Yeah - This sounds like a simple bug to fix. I'm guessing that somewhere in the CC code a 'user ID' (and not a 'profile ID') is being used to specify a profile image (or visa versa).

If you guys mean here on JR forums, I believe there never has been any private message system enabled for use between forum members.

Robert- I have 1 or two more smaller issues in my updated chat, but I will persue those in my CC ticket, thanks!

@Robert - One last confusion I do have for you before ending here is...
Now that my version was updated to 5.7.0, do I still have my Premium version that I paid a lot for originally? -and is the MOBILE part of my CC updated as well?- or does that get done separately?
Thanks for explaining this to me.

Sorry about that - we have 2 support channels here for Jamroom - support tickets and the user support forum. We only allow private notes for subscribers since they already have support access, otherwise we get users trying to get private support via PN.

Thanks!
