Question about Ipad problems

Hi everyone,

I have a member who is having an issue with his ipad. He is reporting that he can usually make 1 or 2 posts before the system won't let him reply, give a thumb up, or do anything other than read. I have had him dump his cache and cookies, but it hasn't worked. Have there been other reports of this, and if so, how do I help him resolve it?

Thanks,
Perrie~

When he says "the system won't let him reply, give a thumb up, or do anything other than read"- does that mean he tries to post and gets an error message or refusal message of some sort?- OR does that mean he doesn't even SEE the options for replying and posting? (similar to as if he were logged out- could it be the reason he can't post is because he's logged out at that point)

Another point- I've had tablet and ipad users who can't see certain little parts of the screen until IO suggest they flip their tablet the other way (horizontal or vertical) ...and suddenly they say oh THERE it is! Just a thought.

Hi Strumelia,

What happens is that he clears his cache, can make a comment or two, or a thumbs up/down and then he can't do anything on the site. It just won't let him, as if he is signed out.

I have found this on the internet:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204098

That might be the issue, but I am not sure. I just passed this on to him, so I have to wait and see.

Why is he clearing his cache first?
And...how can you be sure he ISN'T logged out when this is happening?
Sounds like he's logged out.

Again, the question is this: when he says he 'can't do anything' - does he mean he tries to post and gets an error message? OR does it mean he doesn't even see the text box where he can make posts- doesn't see the options a logged in member would see?

You need to find out if when this is happening- can he see his name at top of site? (logged in) OR does he only see the "Login" link (meaning he's logged out and that's why he cant post).

He is logged in.

When I say he can't do anything, I mean he gets a box and types a post into it, and then it doesn't take. He can click on the thumbs up/down once or twice and then it won't accept it anymore.

I have asked him the questions you are asking and yes he can see his name on top. He sent me a screenshot ( i have them do this now regularly, since I find it to be far more conclusive than some vague descriptions.)

Well, the obvious questions first- is his iOS software up to date, and his browser updated?
Has this problem been happening always, or has it just started for him recently? Turned his ipad off and back on again?

According to him the ISO is up to date, and this has only been happening the last 2 days. He has done the on/ off thing, too. I know that it must be something that he's got going on, since I have other members who use ipads and they are not having an issue. I am just not sure what.
