investigating Mailgun Issue

I just tried to send a broadcast and got cut-off at 300 recipients with a message that I need to verify my domain.

I haven't had problems like this since it's been set-up ages ago, so I am wondering if something in the latest rounds of updates wiped out something on the Jamroom side of things relating to verification?

Nope - this is not Jamroom related. You need to log in to Mailgun and click on "verify" for your domain. If you have issues, make sure and contact Mailgun and they can help.

Hope this helps!

It's already verified - has been for ages. Shows all green in their panel for DNS settings.

Yet they still limited me to 300 today as if I was unverified and I can't get them to answer a support ticket.

I had already contacted some people on Facebook and told them to watch for the email but my broadcast never went out.

It's really aggravating me - I hate mailgun - gggrrrrr.

Hi Brian,

Actually it is a Jamroom issue - kind of.

When you got me to create a "dummy" site or developer site for test purposes, Jamroom's "back-end" software apparently created an account for it in Mailgun.

Since it is not a "real" site, I'm not intending to send mail out. I can't verify it since I don't own demo.co it's just something I put to fill the blank, since Jamroom required something.

However, now they won't send mail out of my "real" network because of the "demo".

This is messed up...

They wont be asking you to verify a domain your not sending email out of. They'll be asking you to verify the domain that is sending out the mail.

Hi Michael,

I wish that were true. I tried to send from indiegospel.net but all they will talk about is demo.co

At least I was finally able to delete the demo.co entry from their panel (was denied at first). It had apparently been made by Jamroom's "back-end" software.

Now the problem is knowing what exactly got delivered and what didn't. I don't know if I need to resend and I don't want to spam people with two broadcasts.

I can't get a response, other than this meaningless garbage below about demo.co from yesterday.

**********************************

Hello Ken,

I apologize for the delayed response, we're currently on a skeleton crew due celebrating Thanksgiving.

Our system periodically checks all domains in our environment to verify that the records are still in place. Your domain may have been verified previously, but your DNS record have changed. Doing a public lookup on the DKIM (smtp._domainkey.demo.co) and SPF (demo.co) records return an incorrect value. You can use the following tool to check the value of your DNS records across servers around the world.

https://www.whatsmydns.net/#TXT/smtp._domainkey.demo.co
https://www.whatsmydns.net/#TXT/demo.co

You will need to update your DNS records to include the correct values seen in your control panel. https://mailgun.com/app/domains/demo.co

Once the domain has been verified, you will be able to send over the 300 message limit.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Marco@MG

Remove the demo one from MailGun, if your not going to be using it, and I wouldn't since it is a dev site, then there is no need in having it.

Also, you can set your ACP > Communication > Email Core > General Settings > Active Email System to "Log Sent Email To Debug Log" and you'll see emails in your debug log instead.

Hi Douglas,

I have already done that. I couldn't at first - it just gave me an error message when I tried saying it was suspended. Late yesterday the status changed to unverified and I was able to delete it.

Also just did the ACP thing. Thanks, I didn't know about that setting.

Again the issue now becomes - were my emails actually sent or do I need to resend?

Were some sent and the rest queued or were some discarded? I can't seem to get an answer on that.

Ken -

I see what the issue is here - can you contact me at support@jamroom.net with the password for your postmaster email address for indiegospel.net in your Mailgun control panel?

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

I saw your message that this is fixed (at least in my account), so I resent the broadcast. I may get some complaints of spamming from the members who will receive it twice, but what else could I do?

I haven't noticed any new "capped at 300" message come back, so I assume that is verification that whatever you did worked - thanks.
