Through Mailgun logs, I had already known for over a month that there was a problem delivering email notifications to one of my site members, I'll call him "George", but it didn't really say much about why, so I assumed maybe it was a Jamroom issue. But when i looked at the new Email Delivery Log tool (available to those of us on Jamroom hosting) last week, it went into greater detail concerning delivery failure. It spelled out the fact that George's email server was blocking all mail from my site and IP address as 'mass mailings'. So I then sent George a screenshot, and advised him to ask his provider to stop blocking mail from my site, and to SHOW them the screenshot. He had not even been aware that anything was wrong, aside from feeling dejected when his private notes to other members went 'unanswered'.
A couple days later i looked in the email log again, and it was very obvious that George had indeed contacted his provider, in fact it showed the exact hour that his provider stopped blocking his notifications from my site...see this awesome screenshot I've attached here below. I wrote George again and showed him how he would now be getting all those notifications and private Messages that had been getting blocked all this time. Awesome! Apparently he had been missing out on many site notifications per week, including lots of private messages failing to reach him...yikes! It feels very satisfying to now be able to investigate in depth and resolve this kind of problem for my members.
But wait, there's MORE! the day after George's notifications woes were fixed, I was very surprised and delighted to get a Paypal notice that George had quietly donated $100 towards my site costs. Awesome!
So a big THANK YOU to the Jamroom gentlemen for providing this GREAT new tool that helps me pinpoint notification issues even more accurately than my Mailgun logs. Yaaaaay!!
