That would be a very useful feature due to increased number of bots which can create fake profiles designated to override certain security settings and spam. There can be even hundrends of such entities in one or two days for some cases.

Has this happened on your site? Has Jamroom's security been breached somehow?
If so, better to fix that than develop a clean up tool after the event.

now I would only wish that each of them to have a checkbox to select them and at the bottom one or two options at least, like "delete selected" or "send email to selected profiles"

I have counted again! Actually it's about around 1200 bots in one week and I can't do so much cleaning right now one by one. I did around 300 and I'll do some more tomorrow and the day after. But I also need to understand how this can be happening and also if there's any chance to see a check buton near profiles in User Accounts - data browser. Thank You

In the short term install the Banned module and block those email domains.
Then set the sigups to 'admin approval'.
Check the Activity logs for the IP addresses of the signups. We need to work out if this is a bot or real people signing up so as to spam (this happens!! Companies employ people to do this!!).

I think it really helps to set up two or three signup questions that require some thought to answer, and that require an answer. My site, among other questions: "My interest in mountain dulcimers, or where I first saw or heard one"...and also "What sweet edible substance do bees make?"
I do have my site set to Admin Approval as well, and anyone suspicious I will look up the location of their IP address. Spammers get their IP address banned with the Jamroom Ban module...I ban the whole range of the ip address- just leave out the last dot and the numbers after it when putting the ip in your banned list. That will also ban when they reset their ip.
With this system, I have not had a single spammer or bot even attempt to join up in my first four months live. They don't want to even bother answering questions about music or nature...lol.

Just to add to this - you need to be really "vigilant" about spammer accounts - you need to make sure and delete them in UNDER 24 hours.

How they work is that the spammers hire someone to create accounts on dozens/hundreds of sites that allow accounts, and post a URL. Then a day or two later they will come back and see if the account still exists with the URL - if it does, then your site is TARGETED and you will get a HUGE number of spammers signing up since they figure you're not watching what's going on.

It's a pain.

Thanks all for advices! I have installed the Banned Items module and now I am trying to clean up the list. From yesterday up to now, 500 more had breached in. It is ok to be vigilent, but this means to spend one hour daily to delete one by one all the unwanted bots. Hope to get rid of them and also to find a solution to better manage this process. Thanks all again!
