solved Question regarding media permissions

Hi Everyone,
I am having certain members beta test my new site, and they can't find any of the media like youtube when they click on the media icon, but I have it. I am assuming this is because of the permissions. I am only showing 3 choices there, community quota, example quota, and moderator quota. I have clicked apply to all quotas but still no one has it but me. How do I fix this?
Thanks!

where is the 'media icon'? Im not totally understanding what your trying to achieve.

All the youtube videos should be visible at:
YOUR-SITE.com/youtube

If your talking about embeding youtube into a blog post only videos associated with your profile will show up in the embed option screen.

If its the embed screen your talking about, there is an option at:
ACP -> FORMS -> EDITOR EMBEDDED MEDIA -> GLOBAL CONFIG -> "Profile Media Only"

That allows all users to embed other users stuff. Thats not allowed by default but if you remove that limitation any user can add any other users public stuff to their blog posts etc.

Michael,
I am not quite sure I understand what you mean. My members like to post youtube videos into discussion posts. Would making the above change allow that, without allowing non members to do that? What do you mean by: "That allows all users to embed other users stuff. Thats not allowed by default but if you remove that limitation any user can add any other users public stuff to their blog posts etc."

perrie:...My members like to post youtube videos into discussion posts....

If they just paste the link in and you have the "Media Url Scanner" module enabled, the links will automatically be converted.

I just installed it Michael, but I still don't understand why I could upload videos but my beta testers couldn't.

Update, it didn't work for my beta testers. And I am still unsure why they don't see all the embeds that I do. All they can do is upload a photo.

Here is what they are seeing

That's the embed module. In your the second screenshot, your seeing more tabs because
* You have added youtube videos to your profile.
* You've added videos to your profile.
* You've added images to your profile.
* You have added Flickr images to your profile.

They haven't so they don't see those tabs. They have no media to embed. If they upload a YouTube video to their profile then they will be able to embed media from their profile wherever they like.

If you want any user to be able to embed any other users content, then the instructions in my first post is what you want.

Michael,
What I would like is that each of my members to be able to embed, not just any user. Is that possible? (I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing).

And Michael, while I have your ear, how do I change the 60 sec time out for posting? I can't seem to find it.

In your ACP > Forms > Editor Embedded Media > Global Config tab, make sure you don't have the "Profile Media Only" check box checked.

Thanks Douglas! It was checked, so I unchecked it. I'll let you know if my beta testers can embed.

OK we tested it Douglas, and still there is no way to embed videos. Not sure why. Could it be permissions?

Hi Douglas,
I am not sure why but suddenly, it's working. Very odd, but happy that it's fixed!
