solved New user sign up notification

We currently use Admin validation for new user sign-ups.

The email that gets sent out to the admins repeats the event notifications copy several times. The repeat is different for each user.

When the new user is approved another email gets sent out to the admins with the same copy as the previous email ( but without the events notification repeating and the IP address is different) which is causing a bit of confusion with admins.

Just noticed the event notification copy is repeating in other notifications to standard users as well.

What I find is that when i first get an email notice saying "A New User has just signed up on fotmd.com!"... it shows the new user's name, email address, and IP address.
Then i copy the IP from the email, check it's location, compare it to that pending member's profile stated location, and usually approve them.

Right after they become approved by me, I immediately receive a second identical email, saying again: "A New User has just signed up on fotmd.com!"... it shows the new user's name, email address, and IP address. EXCEPT...the IP address now listed for that member is my OWN personal IP address.
This can indeed be confusing, but I've learned to ignore it.

White agancy- check that perhaps that second 'different' IP address in those 'new user' email notifications after approval are maybe the IPs of whichever admin approved the new user.

The IP in the second email is the admins IP but it's the fact it's the same email going out when the user has been approved.

Yes i agree, it's very confusing that the two emails are exactly identical (except for the ip address being changed to the admin IP, which is illogical) and the two emails are titled and say exactly the SAME: FIRST email when the member first applies for membership but is not approved yet, and SECOND email after the member is approved and has become active. There needs to be a different title and message language for the two different emails.

The 'notify_signup' email is being used in 2 different locations. Should be different in each location.

Got some wording you want for the first? the second?

I can't asnwer for WhiteAgency, and this is their thread. But for me, at least with the two emails concerning a new user, I would think the first one could still say: "A New User has just signed up on (site).com!" (which would cover both if users could sign up with, or without, approval)...but the after-approval email should be titled something more like "A New User has been approved on fotmd.com". That way you could approve a bunch of new pending users, and then it'd be easy to just select and delete the "approved" emails in a quick chunk without having to caaaaarefully check to make sure you are not deleting the notice (and valuable IP address) for someone who may have just signed up while you were approving the other people.
In other words, the TITLES of the 'before and after' approval emails especially need to show the change... including the word "approved" prominently for the notice upon approval/activation.

This is happening due to an event listener being called twice (once on signup, once on validation). You should only get it the first time so we will check it out.

Oh that would be awesome to NOT get the second one...which is the one that then lists MY OWN IP address for the new user...so confusing. yes it would be GREAT to just get RID of that second email notification altogether. THANK YOU!

This will eliminate hundreds (actually thousands) of unnecessary redundant emails from coming to my inbox in the future. :D

Are you having to manually deal with thousands of users signing up? If so I would recommend simply turning this option off.

Well I get about 2000 new members per year, so the 'thousands' of extra emails would be spread over time...still, six or so every day are annoying enough. ;)

UPDATE- just experienced this fix working now- and it's a real TREAT to no longer get the 'evil twin' copies of every approved new member email 30 seconds after approving them. Thank you for fixing this!
