i have the latest edition of jamroom with the ningja skin and just paid 250.00 for cometchat premium, i installed it following the instructions they gave me and it looks like a module in marketplace i go in set it up turn it on and it pops up on site just like it should however the profiles are not linked to the chat only the names but the pictures are all incorrect except mine ? for instance in this photo i am talking to megan and it is her as her name says but her picture is another members photo ? and if i click her name it will give me a broken link however yesterday there was one band that signed in and there picture was not correct but the name i clicked on did lead me to their page ? any ideas whats going on here or is this just normal, if it is i feel like i just wasted a lot of money ?

Zach- I wrote you privately. I have SAME version, had the exact SAME issues as you, but working slowly with Cometchat support via tickets- they have spent several weeks and have fixed ALL my 4 or 5 CC issues now, one at a time. They will help you- be patient, be polite, and explain very clearly each problem not all problems at once. They fixed everything on mine. Include screenshots, describe the issue in simple language, and give them test logins. Tell them they just finished fixing all these issues on my site at FOTMD.com on Jamroom.
They will fix all these issues you are having- stay PATIENT and polite with them, tell them you appreciate their help-- it works. :)

Yes only a matter of time and asking them to do one thing at a time. Remember they are in India- different time zone completely. Yes, create a test member- a regular member...AND ALSO create an admin test member they can use. They will need access to your server. Change your server password when all is done...likely at least two weeks from now.
You may find another issue- when you login to your site as your test member- see if the chat works for you- if you get a chat error saying saying yu need to log in to use chat, but you ARE logged in...then that's the last glitch they just fixed for me a few days ago.

As far as i can tell from reading your posts, you have done a few things differently than the usual sequence of starting up your site- sort of rushing through things before you have them set up properly. Nothing terribly 'wrong' with that..but the Chat techs might be confused by something as you have it set up. As far as I know, your entire "ccCometChat" folder should be sitting inside your "sites/site.com/public_html/modules" folder.

Don't fuss with or move anything they install. Just ask them if they have it installed and working. Then see if it's working. Then do a ticket on the glitches- and approach one chat glitch at a time.

OMG, this morning I saw that CC update, and I thought to myself...hmmm...I think I'll let other folks update first, that way if it's a disaster and wrecks the chat, i won't be affected.
So I have not clicked on it. It's the same thing i do with new OS updates for Mac and windows... =8-o I feel for you guys- hope this is fixed right away- likley will be tomight, U.S. time.

-what happens now for me I wonder?- assuming they come out with another update to fix this update, yet I never updated to begin with...?

Man, I can't help but feel this is just a lot of money to be handing out for something that seems like a beta test. Don't get me wrong when it works it's great, but all these issues should not exist for 250.00? When I first looked at comet chat I had the intentions to eventually upgrade to the mobile app, desktop messenger and the video chat. But after this I would be pretty paranoid to put any more money into it. I know nothing is perfect and everything but still that is what tests are for. I could not see charging my members just to test something if that makes any sense?

No way am I clicking on that 5.6.2 update yet. And... what does it mean that it has a RED DOT next to it that says "fail" when I hover my cursor over it? Not exactly confidence-inspiring...lol! "fail"?? lolol

I have filed a tech help ticket with Cometchat on this issue, to ask them what to do. I pointed to this discussion as well.
I'll report back here if I get further info.

I agree that $250 is a lot of money and although their tech support seems diligent and does fix problems, it'd be nice if we didn't have so many glitches to begin with. I figure there'll naturally be a few due issues due to the newish cometchat/jamroom module setup, but I'd think they'd thoroughly test a new update before releasing it to us.

@cometchat - I 'followed' you here on the forums, if you care to follow back then we can exchange messages.

Giving that I have spent a years wage over the years trying to launch one of my projects, $250 is nothing really in the scheme of things. You should maybe have started with the $49 version and once the Jamroom module is fool proof then upgrade the features.

Yes, I wish now I would have started with the cheaper version. New issues today are that some profiles when logged in are not linked to cometchat even though you can chat with them if you click their name it takes you to a page saying this page has not yet been created ? And if i log in using the social login it says i have to login to use cometchat so they have disconnected it also from users using social login which worked great the other day ...no idea what they are doing now they fix one thing and then everything else starts to fall apart?

Then i'd have a chat with not many features that has some things not working, as opposed to a chat with lots of features with some things not working.
I plan on sticking with Cometchat- I think it's the best option for my Jamroom network right now. I don't regret spending $250. But I do expect it to work fairly reliably. I certainly don't expect updates to break it. Maybe I'm just a dreamer. :)

I got this explanation from CC:

" --Currently the CometChat module present in Jamroom Marketplace consists of the basic edition of CometChat. Hence upgrading via marketplace will change your CometChat edition to basic. Kindly do not upgrade via the marketplace.
Also the major feature of CometChat 5.6.2 is Tapatalk ( https://tapatalk.com/) Compatibility. This feature is meant only for vBulletin and Xenforo clients (forums). Hence upgrading will bring you no real benefits.-- "

I replied with a somewhat strong response, and await their resolution.

I find this unacceptable that we were notified of and given inappropriate DOWNGRADE 'updates' in our Marketplace that would break our Premium version...with NO warning or explanation other than the seemingly harmless description of:
"CometChat v5.6.2--Features + CometChat is now compatible with Tapatalk app for vBulletin and Xenforo forums. Enhancements + You can now choose to show blocked users in Who's Online list. Fixes + Miscellaneous bug fixes."

(I currently have Premium CC v 1.0.1 installed.)

Zach you should open a ticket and make them re-install your premium version. Open your CC module and look in the INFO tab to see what version you have currently installed. It should be something like mine: v 1.0.1 . If it's 5.6.2 ask them do a whole re-install or else refund you the difference.
I'm so glad I did not just click on that 'update'/downgrade.

No i have v1.0.1 i see the update in system updates i had not done it yet, but still i didn't buy version 1? I paid for what they advertised on the main page of their site? If they can't give me what i paid for we have a major problem, no wonder the version i downloaded from the site the day i bought it would not install correctly! So what they did to try and fix it was basically give me the first version which still does not completely work with jamroom yet.

Zach, I have all those features in my v 1.0.1...and thus you likely do as well. except I don't know anything about Gtalk or FB.
Maybe they started with v. 1.0.0 for a Jamroom-adapted version. I do like the fact that we can access our chat admin settings now right through the JR cometchat module.

Have you thoroughly looked through all your CC admin options in your CC jamroom control panel? you may find all those premium features are in there. Some are nested within other tabs.

yes i have looked some of the admin panels are hidden as if iframed behind jamrooms site and i cant scroll to get to them. for the most part it works but i have no facebook extension only google and if my users log in using the oneall social sign in they cant chat with comet unless they log out and back in by typing email and password, causing some confusion.

An admin from Cometchat has answered my ticket-- what happened is they added CC basic to the market place so folks could buy it, but they didn't realize it would be added to the Marketplace update area of those folks like us as well, who have the NON-basic version already. CC is working on correcting this right now so the CC Basic and CC Premium are seen as distinct items that will not be overlapping on each other. As soon as they correct this that basic version 'update' will disappear from our Marketpace Update areas.

This seems like a reasonable explanation to me, since the CC/Jamroom module association is pretty new, and they are currently working to correct it.

That's good! My chat seems to be working fine as well for the most part. (not sure about announcements)

Supposedly that CC basic version 'update' should disappear from our JR Marketplaces update area by tomorrow. Will see.
I still think Comechat is the best option considering it has an integrated Jamroom module now. Tech support seems pretty diligent as well.

Zach- just got word that CC has contacted JR team for help in figuring out how to sort this out, concerning these 'update' notices and it appearing improperly in our update areas. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out in a few days.

UPDATE: looks like the CC Basic 'downdate' has now disappeared from our Update marketplace area. :)_
