Making a log in/ sign up page

I am having a problem with making a sign in/ sign up page. I found in the documentation for this here:

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/howto/603/howto-add-the-user-login-form-to-any-page

The directions read:
Place this code into the template where you want the login form to be displayed.

So I have looked for where to put it, but I am not sure. I am using SB and I tried pasting directly into a module, but it didn't work. Then I tried t find a templet, but that is where I get lost.

I just made a whopper of a mistake yesterday, so I don't want to mess around and make another mistake. Can anyone give me some guidance?

Are you using the latest Site Builder module?

If so, you can paste your code into a "Template Code" widget.

For the login form, you would use the docs:

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/howto/603/howto-add-the-user-login-form-to-any-page

For the signup form, I'm not 100% sure it can be done and I've not tried it myself. Is there a reason you need the signup form in another page/template?

Hi Douglas,

It was an idea, since I saw it on Strumelia's site. But I am also unsure how to modify sign up questions, so I thought that might be an easier route to go.

You had a tabs that said "log in" and "create account". I couldn't see much more than that, since you can see only your front page.

The next version of the jrUser module will have adding a "user signup" and "user login" widget as part of it.

So just wait for jrUser 1.5.14 to be released and then add the widget provided. "User Login and Signup"

Hmm...that's just the top Navigation Links Bar of the site. I thought everyone had that?

No, not once you use SB. Then you have to do your own navigation.

I thought site builder lets you create your top links bar for the main page?

It does, your right strumelia.

your-site.com/user/signup
your-site.com/user/login

are still going to be there, just some people want to put a user login or user signup form into a structure they design themselves. Say a bunch of text, then a picture, then a signup form.

Or the login form on all pages in the side bar. That kind of thing.

The Site Builder system turns a blank page into a page with a bunch of block on it. Then you stuff content into the blocks. Whatever content you want, eg: some songs, some images, a signup form.

Oh, right. Those big clunky 'sign up' blocks like on some ning sites.

hmm... Perrie said above that she saw it on my site- but all I have is the simple classic Navigation bar with Links along the top of every page, here in my screenshot. Hence my confusion.

Stumelia,
Yes the tabs that you have in the red circle is what I am talking about. I have no idea of how to go about doing that...
and I could go for either the way Ning had them or the way you have them. I think yours looks nicer.

Ok, so you just want a simple navigation bar with links across the top of your site.
(and those are links, not tabs)
And you want the "Login" and "Create Account" links there (along with the other site links you want in the nav bar) in the top bar, on every page of your site.

Correct?

Yes, I have just the simple bar of links across the top of my site on every page.
That's how my members either Log IN, or Create a new Account (sign up).
My main page has various blocks of content, like videos, forums, groups, photos...that one can click to. But there is always the top 'navigation bar' of links to the main site areas: Members, Forums, Photos, Videos, Groups, your own name/profile page, Login, etc.

Once you are a member and logged IN, you then do not see those two (login & create account) links- they are replaced by your member name link, and hovering on your name link then gives a drop down menu to your account settings, INbox, LogOUT, etc. Also if you merely click on that name link once you are logged in, it takes you back to your own profile page...after say youve been browsing the site.

What skin are you using that DOESN'T have those links? They should be on all skins.

--edit--
They would only show to logged out users though.

If you do need to add them via the Site Builder system then you can add a menu link as:

and choose to only have it display to "(group) Logged Out Users".
