Uploaded images from iOS are rotated

Either uploading images to the gallery or via the embedded media on topics, they end up rotated by 90 or 180 degrees depending on if the image was taken in portrait or landscape mode.

Is this a problem with JR ?

Related to this... I see many of the imported ning member images rotated as well during the import process, though they were properly showing on my Ning site. My members are asking how they can rotate them back to show correctly- is there a JR module to help the members correctly rotate their images while in their galleries? I'm wondering if those rotated images may have been originally taken on people's phones or mobile tablets as well.

I did investigate this after it was pointed out by another Ning migrant. I found that in the archive the rotated images had another field called 'rotation' with values of 90, 180 etc. I can only assume that Ning saved the rotated image and served it corrected using this parameter. Maybe this parameter is created by Ning users rotating their images by hand on the Ning site?
However, when importing, JR gets the rotated image directly and saves it as such.
Enabling the image editor in the Gallery module will at least allow users to correct it themselves.

Paul, I have the image editor checkbox enabled for all quotas in my Galleries module, but I can't find where one can rotate... i only can replace image, rename, caption, move to diff gallery, etc. What am i missing?

Have just looked at your site - You need to register with Adobe and enter the Client ID and Secret on the Gallery module global settings page.

Does that cost me? Where do I go to 'register with Adobe' ?

No - it does not cost anything.

On a side note, there sometimes IS EXIF info that would help us "rotate" images on resize, but it's not always reliable.

Paul, is this 'register client ID secret' from adobe supposed to be connected with Lightbox in JR? I thought getting a client secret has to do with registering your adobe product...in this case JR's provided Lightbox maybe? if so, where do I find the doorway to register my Lightbox app with adobe, in order to get a client ID and 'secret' ? Sorry to be so confused/confusing. :(

or, do I automatically get a 'secret' when i just create a generic aDOBE ACCOUNT via their adobe.com 'create account'...without attaching it to registering any particular application...? I watched some youtube clips on simply creating an adobe account, but they dont mention a 'secret' anywhere.

When you register with Adobe you'll get the ID and Secret codes. Paste them into the Gallery global fields and save. This allows your Jamroom to connect with and use the Adobe image editor. On the image detail pages you'll see an 'edit image' button.

Thanks Paul!
One last little question if you don't mind...

I'm always a little leery of 'registering' with Adobe- will simply registering on the Adobe page that way to get a 'client ID' somehow enable them to ascertain whether or not I'm using 'legit' copies of their software on my computer?
(The very thought freaks. me. out. ...lol)
