I am looking for a way to turn OFF the Comments Wall in groups. I can delete each message individually but there are probably at least 7000.

In the Group module template item_detail.tpl lines 87-90 inc.
Remove or comment them out.

You can also use the batch edit tool to quickly get rid of some of those 7000 comments :)

The latest version of the Profile Groups module (1.4.0) has a new "Allow Comment Wall" setting that you can set on a per-group basis that allows you to do this. Update and you should be set.
