Hi

We are currently looking into alternatives to our existing hosted online community and are considering Jamroom as an option (once Jamroom Hosting is up and running).

Could you tell me whether Jamroom forums support categories and sub-categories/sub-topics?

Welcome to Jamroom!

The Jamroom forum supports categories - i.e.:

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum

but does not support sub-categories or sub-topics.

I'll let others answer your forum question, but gotta say here that I'm on the Jamroom server hosting already (as a beta user, though I can't tell it's beta at all)...just seems to be running perfectly for me (and is even faster than my current Ning site)...

Basically, yes. You are looking at the Jamroom forum in action now so can see its category system.
Forums belong to profiles so if you look at your browser url now, you can see that this forum belongs to profile 'The Jamroom Network'
So for multiple forums, create profiles named after your 'top' category (Trains, Boats, Planes, whatever) and give each of them a forum the same as this one.
