When I view a playlist in Firefox and click on the video it does not seem to play but the audio tracks do. I tried this in Chrome and IE and the video plays fine, any ideas ?

Here is the link to the test playlist

The "Parade" video is playing for me in Firefox, on windows 7. It seems to have a little buffering issue in the first few seconds but then plays fine.

Thanks Strumelia, I am on Win 8.1 pro but I think it may be someting in my browser then that's stopping it.
Thanks for checking it out :-)

Thanks Brian, will have to check into my Firefox settings to see if something is stopping it, although it plays fine in the video player section which is odd, so FF will play it but my FF won't in the playlist. I had a harddisk go down the other day so installed a new ssd drive and re-installed Windows etc completly fresh so not a lot on the main drive to mess with it.

hmm will have to do some more investigation.

Yep I know it buffers a little as still on the Arvix cheapy server but will be changing over soon. It all works quickly for me editing the site as got a quick broadband but will change over before it all goes live for members.
Pleased to see you got yours all transfered over ok and is working really quick for you, really happy for you as I know you had troubles with Ning and 3.0.

Thanks John. Still some work ahead before I go live, but progress is happening faster now, and with the ultra fast JR server it now makes tweaking my site less of a dreary time suck as it was on the cheap arvixe server. Today for the first time I felt I had reached the point where the End Goal is in sight.
A few days ago I had a video that balked and after the latest flash update it worked fine- is your flash updated to latest?

Yep flash is all upto date as I did a complete fresh install of everything on a new hard drive, the odd thing though is in my Firefox it plays in the video section but just not the playlist so I know it plays. Maybe will remove it as it was a test video anyway and maybe upload it again to see if that makes a differance.

By the way on another note I must apologise for the post the other day on Ning, my wife is a sensitive little thing and things I think got a little blown out of proportion so sorry about that.

Thanks guys!

Well let us know John if you solve your video firefox mystery...weird that it plays in the video section but not in your profile playlist on YOUR computer but not ours. Have you tried the same thing under a regular user's profile playlist? That would be a little check test.

Still can't seem to get this to work, looked at all setting in FF and looks ok.
Tried Different Skins and still won't play the video in the playlist.
I know the video works as it will play if you go to the video section and it plays in the player so don't know what is stopping it in the playlist one. As it plays in the normal video section it can't be anything to do with my PC or FF else the video would not play at all in either of the sections.
Hmm stumped on this one all I can think off is something javascript or something is not loading in the playlist player for the video side of things, audio works fine.

Don't know where to go from here so if any of the Jamroom guys have any ideas feel free to jump in this one, thanks.

Just got Scarlett to create an account to see if it was something to do with my account. In her account it still does not play so that counts out my account making it not work. Stange though as it all works in every other browser even IE which is normally the one that has issues if there are any.

Not quite sure what to try next ???

Did you compare the two URLs of the particular video, in both the playlist and in the regular video section?

The url is ok as the video plays in the video player, the javascript looks this up in the playlist player to play the video which is where I think the problem lies somewhere.

Maybe if you or someone else who has a playlist with a mix of audio and video in it could share a link to thier site then I can see if that works on my end, if not then there must be some code going wrong or if it plays then that maybe will help find the problem.

Thanks Brian

Nope that does not play for me but it does if I goto the video page then play it from there. I add that link into IE and plays fine. This is really odd, what I can't seem to figure out is why it would play in the player via the normal video page but not in the playlist as it's the same video coming in from the same source and if it plays in the video section then there would be no reason for it to not play in the playlist. If it was some code error somewhere then surely it would not play at all in other browsers. Weird, maybe if I remove the video support then re-install that would that help do you think ?

I don't think it is module related - it's got to be something unique about the way FF in Win8.1 is handling the playlist player versus the stand alone video player. I don't see any issues with it here, but I'm not testing on Windows 8.1 (I have to redownload the modern.ie VM so I can test in Windows as I don't run windows).

At this point I am really not sure what it would be be.

I just removed all the video module and re-installed it, removed the video and now uploaded it again, taking it's time converting so can't test it yet, 15mins so far for a 48mb video. I know Arvix is slow and will be jumping from them soon. Will report if this worked out or not.

Here is an interesting thing and maybe the cause

When you play a video in the ' Videos ' player the quality is low but when you open the video in the playlist the quality is greatly increased, almost like it's trying to play HD. This I noticed in Chrome and IE as obviously can't see this in FF which is where I am having the problems. Also when you switch to the playlist one you get this 'jp' logo appear until the video plays.

Well after a lot of messing about with Firefox, removing adding back again, unloading all plugins then adding them back in one by one and checking and re-checking all settings I have finally got the video working in the playlist. Still not quite sure why it stopped as I adding everything back in that I removed so maybe it was some corrupt file somewhere in Firefox that was causing it. Oh well guess never know what actually caused it but at least it's working now :-)
