I'm having trouble getting past the install screen. I keep putting the database info in, install runs a few seconds, then it blanks out my entries and does nothing. One thing I wonder, is that I installed Jamroom to a subdirectory. Could that be the problem?

Jamroom should install and run ok in a sub-folder, I've done it 100s of times!!
Any server errors related to this?
Also, try reuploading all Jamroom files.

Thanks Paul for your response.

Okay, I re-uploaded. Got a server error. Wiped it all out, re-unzipped, re-uploaded again, ended up with the same original problem. Can't get past the install screen. And, I accidentally re-uploaded to the root directory, so that obviously isn't the problem. Checked the server requirements again, and the server meets the requirements.

"Moved info to the ticket Install Issue"

You can see for yourself.

Any other ideas?

I reuploaded again, and now I'm getting a server error. Have to run right now, but I'll try it all again when I get back.

I see a parse error from the install in your root directory: Your upload is not successful, check that you are using your ftp app correctly.

Also, before trying to install again you need to delete your database and database user and create a new one with a different password - you have posted details here which means that your server will never be secure until you do that.

A parse error could also mean that PHP support has not been enabled on the web server, so check that:

- PHP (minimum 5.3) is enabled and working on the server
- mod_rewrite has been enabled in Apache

Hope this helps!

Ultrajam--I was figuring on redoing the database. I'm restarting the whole thing from scratch.

Brian--Thanks.

I've re-downloaded, re-unzipped, re-uploaded, deleted and remade the database, and I'm still coming up with a parse error. So, I have created a service ticket with iPage using Brian's comments. I sure hope it's just a setting issue that they can fix.

Well, I wiped it and re-uploaded one more time. Now I get to the installer screen again. However, I enter my database info and click on the install Jamroom button, then click OK, and then nothing happens. I'm really hoping that support will solve the problem with the setting that Brian gave me.

I gave up on installing on iPage, and went to Jamroom hosting. That works much better.
