I'm finding when I post a new discussion in a group created by my moderator ("Dusty Turtle"), it shows MY discussion as having been created by Dusty (not me) but showing my avatar pic with HIS name and hotlink underneath my pic. It also shows on his profile page and on the main page activity feed that HE created the discussion but with my picture. Then if I post a new post in that same discussion that I created on his group, it shows correctly as my having posted the post. see attached screenshot. Who am I? (!)

I think this is likely the same issue we're seeing in the activity template for the forum - we'll get it fixed.

Thanks!

Brian -

Is this also related to the URL mixup in Groups that I found yesterday?

If by "groups" you mean "forum" then yes - otherwise I am not sure - did you post separately on that?

By Groups I mean Group Discussions, not the site-wide forum. I posted yesterday, Order by on Group Discussions. In looking at this I realized that the URLs were malformed and that was more important than fixing the order_by.

OK - we will check that out then. I think the activity template is going to need updates like I just added to the forum, so I'll check out the other URLs at the same time.

Thanks for working on fixing this! It's disconcerting to have your identity morphed into someone else... =8-*

Just to say this is still happening for me. When I create a new discussion in a Group that someone else created, it show my avatar but with the group creator name and profile attached to me, and indicates my discussion was created by the person who created the group, not by me. But if i then make a POST to that same discussion, my ID for that new post shows correctly. See the screenshot above. This would cause some pretty big freakouts for members. Is anyone else seeing this happen?

So just to be sure I am looking in the right area:

- this is for entries in the Activity Timeline?
- it happens when you CREATE a new post in a Discussion Group (not in the Profile Forum) on a profile that is NOT your profile

Thanks!

Here is when it happens:

If I create a NEW Discussion in a GROUP that was created by someone else (for example member Dusty).... it shows that Dusty created the Group discussion, but has my avatar picture with Dusty's hotlink name under my picture (see screenshot). Then, if I make a POST in that same discussion, it shows correctly that I have have made the post. It's in the Group Discussion section, and happens when a NEW discussion is created, but not when later posts are made to that discussion.
I don't think it happens in the regular site forums, just in Group discussions, when the person who created that group is different than the person creating the new group discussion.

Not talking about the activity feed on the main page....though I have a related issue there but that's for another thread probably.

"- it happens when you CREATE a new post in a Discussion Group (not in the Profile Forum) on a profile that is NOT your profile"

When i first create a new DISCUSSION there in that Group, yes. Then it does not happen when I post another post in that same discussion- then I am correctly identified.

This should be fixed now in the latest Group Discussions module - update and let me know if you see any issues.

Thanks!

Yes this is fixed now- thank you!

(and you also fixed the glitch where the admin's newly created group discussion did not show in the main page Activity Timeline...only subsequent posts to it showed. All fixed now!

:)

D'oh... I'm afraid this is happening again.

See SCREENSHOT. Only happens to me when I'm signed in as me, not when I'm singed in as a regular test member. And only happens when i create a new discussion in a group that I did not create- I take on the group creator's name and hotlink when in the groups main page disucssion module. Once I actually click to the discussion in question, I am shown correctly...and my subsequent posts to the discussion are always shown correctly.

Please help.

Difference between this time and the last time is that the first time around if I clicked to the actuall discussion it showed my name incorrectly there as well. Now it only shows me incorrectly in the group's main page view...in the discussion module list.

I specifically updated that template, so that _should_ be working. Are you running the stock template for the groups?

I will check it out and see if I overlooked something.

Thanks!

I don't think I have changed anything in the module, Brian.
Note the small difference this time around, perhaps it holds a clue?:
"...the first time around if I clicked to the actuall discussion it showed my name incorrectly there as well. Now it only shows me incorrectly in the group's main page view...in the discussion module list."

Thank you for investigating- I seem to have a variety of these odd little issues pop up!

Yeah I know right where you are talking about, and it's working here for me so I am not sure why you're seeing that. Can you send me your admin log in and password so I can check it out?

Thanks!

This is fixed now - I had actually fixed it a while back but had not uploaded the new Groups module to the marketplace - have just done that, updated your site, and you should be set.

Hope this helps!
