completed Context sensitive menu in Tiny MCE editor?

Today, while adding a new post in one of my forum sections, I noticed a context-sensitive menu that appeared at my cursor, prompting me to insert a link or image.

I was only able to do this accidentally, and no combination of mouse downs paired with function keys allowed me to summon the menu on command.

What's the secret? This HAS TO go into my Tips for using the site FAQ,

There is an "Insert/Edit Link" button in the toolbar - is that what you saw?

Nope. The menu appears where my cursor is. And it suggests that I can insert an image. Cut and paste, too. 4 commands to choose from.

Well I'm not sure - sounds like you've found something useful, but I've not seen that! What text have you entered? Maybe it is triggered by specific keywords.

I have been looking at Tiny MCE shortcuts. I see that there is a plugin that you can use to add an insert image icon into the toolbar.

But that's not it.

I will have to pay more attention the next time it pops up. I can't reproduce it randomly.

There is a context menu plugin in tinymce, I can't look right now but I don't think it is installed for the default jamroom tinymce config, you can add it in the config template though. I have used it recently, and it is handy if you get your comonly used items in the context menu.

I am unlikely to add it to the config template myself. If this is something that is generally supported by Jamroom I will do it.

I do want to give members the ability to embed images in blogs, though, not just have the one image. I have activated the src tag in the HTML for ME so I can do it and reference images that I have uploaded but it would be nice to offer it globally if here is a safe and easy way to do it.

If you right click in the text entry section you will get that menu up for inserting a link, image and cut and paste.

John -

I am on a Mac using a trackpad and the usual right-click combination does not cause the menu to pop up reliably.

That little menu only shows what is available on the toolbar anyway, the cut and paste items normally fail when using the context menu so its a matter of using keyboard shortcuts to do that. It's a mac issue as they do not have the right click function as Windows do although there are workarounds for it but it's a lot of hassle and messing about.

The context editor is on by default. Its needed to allow you insert images that exist on other URLs. (and has some other useful things too, like adding the alt text to an image and adding some padding to an image )

The controls for it are right click inside the TinyMCE editor. It works every time for me here.

This is not working for me at all on a MacBook Pro with any combination of command keys and trackpad presses. I got my first inquiry from a member already about how to add images to a Group discussion.

At this point I am happy to look into adding the button to the TinyMCE editor.

Guidance?

I have a report from a member that even when the context-sensitive menu appears they are unable to upload images into blog posts.

Here's what I got in the email update:

<p>file:///Users/tsnuggs/Desktop/image1.JPG</p>
<p>file:///Users/tsnuggs/Desktop/image2.JPG</p>
<p>file:///Users/tsnuggs/Desktop/image3.JPG</p>

Do I not have the Images module configured properly?

Are you using the Editor Image Upload module:

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/65/editor-image-upload

to add the images?

I thought I did at one point - but apparently not.

I now get this error message:

This module has required dependencies that are not met, and cannot be enabled

Yeah - you have to have the "Editor Embedded Media" module installed:
