Share your Performance Check Results

The latest version of the Jamroom Core (5.2.21) has a new 'Share Your Results' feature for the Performance Check (located in the Core Tools).

After you have run at least one performance test, you'll now have the ability to Share your results by clicking on the "Share Your Results" button right in the performance test results window.

Right now, those results are going into a collector here on Jamroom.net while we work on the "front end" result browser.

When you share your results you will also have the option to share some additional information about your hosting provider including:

- A comment about the results
- How much you spend monthly for the hosting account
- What type of Hosting account (i.e. VPS, reseller, etc.)
- What your overall "rating" is for your provider

Our goal with the new setup is to come up with a section here on Jamroom.net that will let you browse the results submitted by real Jamroom sites so you can get a good idea of who the best hosting providers are.

Right not the back end "collector" is on and ready for collecting results - we'll be working on the result browser here in the next week or so so everyone can check out the results.

Please let me know if you have any questions, otherwise if you can take the time to share your results with us, the more data the better :)

Thanks everyone!

Should we not be running these tests on a holiday weekend though?- it suggests to run them during 'slow times'.

Sure - you can run it whenever you feel the traffic on your site is the lowest.

Hope this helps!

I think Strumelia was asking if tests should actually be run when the server is busy.
If so, no. This tool is testing server performance directly so more accurate results are obtained when the server can give 100% of its time, and not have to break off to serve any site visitors.

Not yet - There's still a very small sample of results - once we get a bit more I will get the viewer online (I haven't created it yet and have been super busy with other items).

2K is awesome - the fastest we've got so far is a "seconds" result of 4.06 on hivelocity.net - if that's you that's a great score.

Yes I shared the info for mine (Arvixe shared), which totally SUX as well. It's really hard trying to build a site when you have to wait a whole minute just to go from one page to another, much less actually DO anything. It's not JR platform, it's the server. I get total scores of like 125-160. Like walking through tar.

My Arvixe shared sites are around 325. Bluehost is around 650. I have bluehost sites on both regular shared and "pro" shared and the scores are roughly the same for both. I can't get video to process on either of these hosts, by the way. It's not a big issue for me; just mentioning it.

I got 1246 on a shared host jbservers website which seems really odd to me. I've actually considered this host to be much slower than all my other sites. Today it was acting OK, though I wouldn't say any speedier than the other shared hosts. Maybe they've made some changes in the last month or so?

Does the network have any impact on the performance results? Or is it purely on processor / disk / database results?

purely processor disk database and database is uncached pure db access so any caching options have no affect on the score

high server loads using disk processor memory and db access will affect the score though since trafics competing for resourses with the performance test

hmm that might not be the most accurate test site haha i found it by searchijng 'accurate sirte speed test" cause although my site loads in 1 second many tests that want u to sign up for something say 17 seconds wich is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off

this test seems to only download 100k no matter the site size

i usualy use webwait.com to test how it performs within my browser and connection but thats been down for a few days

and thats what i answered
the jr performance test is a measure of pure cpu disk and db access speeds without any consideration for cache
and network speed is not measured or accounted for however load on the network affects the score as the more work the cpu disk and database is doing at the time the more it affects the score outcome so it is best tested at low trafic times

i dont think that qualifies as random advice just a detailed complete answer

Your results are stored in the backend here correctly (I can see them) - not sure why they are not updating to reflect that on your site though, but I can check that out.

You're score is awesome and is that high because:

1) you have a really high single CPU score
2) you have 8 of those CPUs :)

You should be able to handle a very large load on your site. Nice one!
