solved line spacing in the Profile page "Bio" box still excessive

With every simple line return, text editor box creates a whole blank line, leading to excessive spaces everywhere and very loooong "Bio" boxes on the profile pages- too many double spaced lines and empty space. Can this be tightened up? Thanks!

When in the TinyMCE editor if you hit "return" it will start a new paragraph - NOT a new line. There is no "fix" for this since it's the way the TinyMCE editor works.

Instead, we've tried to make sure the output looks correct (and the last Core update should have fixed most of it up) - do you have a link to a page where you're seeing the issue on?

Thanks!

Yes right on my own profile page in the bio box, which I just added to and is showing the annoying extra line spaces..

I'm not sure why that would happen - I'm wondering if there is extra space "handling" going on in the profile_bio area (which is where that is at). You can see the spacing looks fine in blogs - i.e.

https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/blog/56/map-domain-names-to-jamroom-profiles

so check your blogs and see if the spacing is OK there - if it is that means it's a profile template issue in the NingJa skin.

Hope this helps!

I've just done some more testing and I've found another "case" where the spacing still comes through (basically the HTML tag order is different) so I'm working on a fix for it.

I do not see any line spacing problems in my Blogs. They look good.

Thanks for working on a fix... :)

Just a note:
When using the tinyMCE editor if you hit ENTER at the end of a line of text, it will put the next line into a new paragraph. However if you hold down shift and hit ENTER (shift+enter) then it will only put a line break.

That's worth knowing. Thanks Michael.

The tiny mice is set to Paragraph by default, if you change the option to Pre then you can press enter and it will just continue as a new line rather than a paragraph.

John, would each member have to set that every time one makes a post in the text editor, I assume?

Yes they would, I am going to have a play around with this over the weekend and see what else I can come up with.

Another thing to note is the the "pre" style sets everything to courier and line wraps must be hand-edited. It's good for things like code when no BBCode equivalent exists but it won't work for posts. I know - I tried just for fun.

Brian - I get inconsistent results. The About blog works fine and all of the pages I have added also look fine. However, if you look at the new features post in the FAQ in my forum - spacing is weird there, same as Strumelia is seeing in her blog posts. Could be some weird interaction with the CSS, the Skin templates, and the editor.

I've just released Jamroom Core 5.2.21 that has much better "detection" of the multiple lines issue - update and let me know if that looks better. Unfortunately the HTML that is causing these extra lines can be all ordered different (as well as have spaces and line returns between them) so it's a bit tricky to catch it all, but 5.2.21 should be much better.

Thanks!
