Recent events have really brought site security, and web security as a whole, to the fore. What does everyone see as the future? Is cyber attack going to become the norm, and how much are we laying ourselves out in the open for our sites to be used for tools of cyber warfare?

I think if you run a large enough system you'll eventually be a target, so you need to make sure your server is secure. I would recommend:

- DO NOT ever use FTP anywhere.
- DO NOT run a mail server on your server (host it on a separate server)
- ONLY use SSH for server access
- Make sure you are keeping your software on your server up to date on a DAILY basis.

A good example is the recent NTP vulnerability - patches have been released in the last 24 hours to address it - are you up to date?

Hope this helps!
