You can set the Max Items setting in the Profile Blog -> Quota settings section.

To limit the number of blogs daily, install the Daily Limits module:

Hope this helps!

That isn't supported in the ProfileLimits module because timeline posts go into onto the Action datastore which other modules also write to when items are created and updated, so they would be included as part of the set limit, which isn't desirable.
I can see that you might want to limit just timeline posts to stop users swamping it, so I'll raise a ticket to see if it can be done at some point.
Thanks

Thanks Paul. Yes, users swamping it is my concern...it's already happening.

This would be a special case that we've never had to address before - no one in 2 years of Jamroom 5 has ever asked for this. If you have users spamming your system I'd recommend disabling their account.

i.e. if I go into twitter my tweets are not limited - just my 2 cents...

Yes I don't think limiting timeline posts is the correct option here, but how about some sort of filter on the timeline that a user could select, and the admin could set a default filter.

But like this http://tinypic.com/r/33aweg8/8

What would you be filtering for?

That's the thing thinking over this again its a bit of a mute suggestion at the moment lol as currently there isn't a lot you could filter for, but in the future there should be as the timeline evolves. File this one under too much beer last night.
