Well I decided to send out the password credentials to my Ning members do they can log-in to the new network.

Someone emailed be a copy of what was sent out and the new password is a simple number string.

The problem is, I had the new "strong password" module installed, and set to require way more complexity than that.

So temporarily, I've disabled the strong password module for fear it will frustrate my members trying to follow the directions and log-in. What should be done going forward?

Not sure if this would be called a "comedy of errors" :)

The Strong password module does NOTHING for passwords that are created by you (or a module) - it simply enforces a password policy for NEW USERS who are signing up.

I have no idea how your Ning user's password were set or created - is that something the Ning import module does?

Thanks!

Yes the Ning Import module sends out a small number string, and a message inviting former Ning members to login, so I guess my question is, does the system treat them as "new users".

In other words, when they come with that small string will they get rejected?

If not, I'll turn "Strong Password" back on.

It shouldn't reject them since that must be their password - when they go to change it they will have to meet your password policy.

Hope this helps!
