Any thoughts of a new cart in the near future?

Ok, here's the one million dollar question many of us are waiting for, are there even any thoughts of a new shopping cart in the near future?

Right now I have foxycart disabled in my site, it just doesn't work for me.

What doesn't work about it? There is no alternate cart in the works at this time.

Thanks!

The fact that it's powered by foxycart Brian, I know this has been an on going topic, but Paypal worked for me and many others from what I have read, and foxycart doesn't, it's a great feature offering our artists to able to sell merchandise in our sites, but most of us run JR as a hobby, not a business, and I wouldn't make enough to pay for foxycart alone, so another option would be great, but I think it's just best to put this to rest since there are no plans for another cart.

No problem - I just wanted to make sure there was not a technical issue you were seeing that was keeping it from working correctly. I know that some sites do not want to use it due to the cost, which is understandable. I'm certain there will be alternatives along in the future that will be directed at those sites that don't want to use FoxyCart.

Thanks!

Yeah I think JR member "b360" hope I spelled that right, is working on an alternative, this may be a immature question right now, but if everything works out, any possibility you could acquire this in the future so you could offer updates and support?

Well, if/when b360 does come up with a viable PayPal module, I guess there will be a big demand for it and that he will support it directly. In turn, we will support him with any Jamroom issues he comes across. It was always our intention with JR5 to get more third party developers on board, and give them the means to develop and market their JR5 products, via this new site.

I am currently working on a stand alone PayPal solution for Jamroom. This has been a ton of work over the last few months for me however I should have something to show you in a few weeks.

+1 But time is not a concern here. Just for future reference ;)
We make 0 out of our site and do it for the love it.
We don't want any cash from sales. Rather see it go to the artists as they make stuff all and we only want good tunes!

Sorry I did not respond faster. My email did not update me on this topic for some reason (or I missed it) but rest assured my head has been in the works daily for quite some time with this.

Its comming along great! It is a quite involved module but we are working very hard to make it 100% ready.

I wont post up much until we are in our beta testing stage with it and only have minor bugs to find and work out. Im hoping to be there with in the week. And also to answer your question about updates and what not. I will be updating it and providing support for it. Thanks

We also have a small PayPal "buy it now" module in testing that should be released soon. It's not a full ecommerce setup like our FoxyCart module is, but it allows profiles to enter their own paypal email address, and payments go directly to the artist instead of going through a central payment address. Downloads are handled via IPN so it's secure.

Hope this helps!
