That would be in your skins/jrNova/css/core_form_layout.css file, it is the form_help elements.

Hope this helps,

Douglas, can you make it so when you are logged in as admin , you would click the back ground or something to edit the css instead of leaving the area you want to edit?

i.e. if I want to edit the text "the text edit icon / button / bullet would only be visible in admin mode"

This would take away the confusion and save time

its all possible , smoke a joint and you will figure it out

basically the edit icon / button / bullet would be a link to the css i.e. skins/jrNova/css/core_form_layout.css

There is like 99% more work involved in it then that. It would make the skin templates much more complex, so it's likely not something you would see from us. Maybe a 3rd party developer would work on it for you.

If you are using the FireFox browser, you should get the developer tool or Firebug add-on, then you can right click on a link or any element of your page to find the CSS class its using.

The link color your wanting to change is in the core_html.css file.

Hope this helps,
Douglas

I can't figure out why this is not changing on your site?

I'm not seeing any errors and I see the background color has been changed in the styles section for the skin and in the database, but for some reason, it is staying the default color even after clearing the cache and running the IC tool.

Whats odd is, I can change those colors on my dev site without issues.

douglas:I can't figure out why this is not changing on your site?

Its not changing on his site because of some other alteration added to the css file that is screwing up the generated CSS file.

The outputted CSS file looks like this:
//.......
#tag_cloud:hover {
background-color:transparent;
color:#FFF;
}
background: #D4D7D9 url( {
:12px;
}
.form_help {
background-color:#FF66FF;
padding:9px;
border-radius:4px;
}

//.......

Whatever is generating that code thats not attached to anything is screwing it up:
background: #D4D7D9 url( {
:12px;
}

My guess is its somewhere that has
/* @title something */
/* @help This is something */
.something {
  background: #D4D7D9;
}

That needs to be changed to 'background-color':
/* @title something */
/* @help This is something */
.something {
  background-color: #D4D7D9;
}

Try going into your phpmyadmin for your site.

Locate the 'jr_jrcore_skin' directory and clear out the skin_custom_css value for the skin you are using.

This will reset the changes done in the CSS panel.

Update to the latest version of things and apply the wanted changes again.

In that case you must have made a typo in your css file.

Go through your css files with a fine tooth comb until you find where you made the mistake.

First thing to do: Check for user error, you know you do it often, not 100% of the time, but almost.

Next thing to try: Get out your fine tooth comb - you need to find that obscure customisation mistake that you have made somewhere deep and hard to find in your code.

I know they are not working on your system. Something you have done to your system has caused a breakage in the CSS file. You can clear that breakage by doing what I suggested a few comments back:
michael:
Try going into your phpmyadmin for your site.

Locate the 'jr_jrcore_skin' directory and clear out the skin_custom_css value for the skin you are using.

This will reset the changes done in the CSS panel.

Update to the latest version of things and apply the wanted changes again.

If you can reproduce the error after that, tell me the steps to do it, so I can do it on my site. Then I will be able to diagnose the problem because I will have debugging equipment in place.

I can only make one change that works i.e. if I change the BG collar or footer , if I try to change the profile collar it wont , I would have to repeat the " clear out the skin_custom_css " it will but wont let me change the BG collar.. the css is only allowing 1 change at a time without repeating " clear out the skin_custom_css"

I'm seeing these php errors on your site:

Quote:
[06-May-2014 08:17:26 America/Vancouver] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare jrNova_skin_meta() (previously declared in /home5/dubmusic/public_html/dubmusic.com/skins/jrNova-release-1.2.4/include.php:50) in /home5/dubmusic/public_html/dubmusic.com/skins/jrNova/include.php on line 58 [x 1]

This means the files are either corrupt or all of them have not been uploaded.

You might try downloading the jrNova skin and unzipping on your computer, then upload it via a reliable FTP program and see if that helps.

Well, before you deleted everything, Douglas pointed out that your error logs said you hadn't managed to upload all the files successfully, so that's at least one thing that you are not doing. You do need to be able to upload all of the files.

You are deleting your database when you do the new install aren't you?
If not, you still need to delete that table like Michael said. Otherwise you are just reloading your same mistakes from the database over and over and over and over again.

I just removed the database entry for your skin and tried to modify a few CSS styles and they all worked for me, can you give it a try now?

Thanks!

It don't work , how about you change the header ,footer ,back ground and artist profile to collar "#111 and text to #ccc" to simulate the error ?

Just a thought, could you be seeing some radical cacheing from your isp Izhmel?

If it generally works, but you can't ever make it work, maybe you are seeing some isp cacheing? I hear TalkTalk and PhonesRus are the worst, but even if so you should try it in Africa man, isps are sooooo crap. (I haven't had the same sort of problems that you have been having though, just a last straw kind of thought.)

If it was radical cacheing from isp when you clear jr_jrcore_skin it would trigger the same result, it only work if you clear jr_jrcore_skin and allow you to do one edit i.e. header BG collar then if you try to change the footer it wont work ...

If it was radical cacheing from the isp when I edit "/skins/jrNova/css" it would not work and is the only way it works

So how else is your css mistake constantly reloaded?

There must be an answer.

Are you absolutely sure your ftp app is successfully uploading your files? That has to be the first port of call.

yes , I did several install so why would the error be consistent and why when I edit "/skins/jrNova/css" it works ...

it was working right before " change header BG color was added to the css "

I guess a consistent spelling mistake would produce a consistent error.

Could be simpler than that though. Are you sure you are remembering to click the save button after changing the css?

I think it's more like I am clicking save and it is not saving the changes ..

it is allowing only a single edit ...

What edit is it that you can do? What is that single edit?

I find I can change text colors and can only change BG images once, i.e. header ,footer"

Once it is changed it will not allow any more changes

The BG colors is what I meant , you can log in and see , if I had changed the BG color of the header first I would not be able to change the BG color of the over all site or footer.

You are very confused aren't you.

If your database is getting "stuck" in some way (which seems to be what you might be saying in some weird round-about way), delete the table as shown above. If you can't do that, ask a friend or adult to help.

If you would, update your modules and skins to the latest versions, then let us know if you still see an issue.

Thanks!

Sorry, I should have been more clear... Your going to have to start over, you'll want to go into the database and remove the Nova entry from the skins table like before. Then it should work going forward.

I've tested this on my dev and test site and it is working for me.
