The Chained Select module allows related selection. If the first dropdown has one thing selected, then limit the second set to a pre-defined set as well.
Overview
Useful for related systems, like cities in the USA. one dropdown would have states, the second would have cities. The cities selectable in the second would only show cities that are in the state selected in the first drop down box. -

Now that the chained select structure is setup, it needs to be added to any form that you want to use it on by adding it with the Form Designer .

Use the name of the chained select set in the options box

That takes care of getting the input saved to the datastore, now you can edit your templates and the variables will be there in the same way as all the other variables saved by that form are.
To understand which variables you have available to you at output, use the {debug} function.
