LOL! Well, that certainly makes sense! This program is extremely impressive and there is so much to learn. Thank you so much for sharing it! ~ Lisa

New Genosis Badges module - free!

Genosis

WHOOOO HOOOOOOO!! How Awesome! Thank you! Question: Do we have to wait 14 days to download it? It says "subscribe to unlock," and then underneath it says "unlocks for everyone in 14 days." ~ Lisa

Adding a URL

Genosis

Hello! While creating an event on the timeline there is the option to add a URL. (New Source URL) I put in the URL and save it, but it keeps "disappearing." Do I have the wrong idea of what is supposed to go in that spot? For instance, I am adding their Find-A-Grave link, but it won't stay put. Thanks! ~ Lisa

Residence Address

Genosis

I love the map feature and some of my fellow researchers have said the same thing! What is the best way to put in a residence so it appears (general area at least) on the map? I have been putting the full address in the location, but I am wondering if there is a better way? Thanks! ~ Lisa

Sourcing a 2-Page Document

Genosis

Interesting. I'll see if there is some way to do that with Windows. I cannot tell you enough how much I LOVE this program you designed! It's a lot fun and informative! The interface is different than the genealogy program on my computer because with the timeline I can see better what is missing! It's fun "developing" an ancestor. Thank you again!

Sourcing a 2-Page Document

Genosis

Hello! I have another sourcing question. Some families are listed on a census document at the bottom of the page and spill over onto another page. How is it best to add both the pages? I have just been linking the folks who are on each particular page, but I didn't know if there was a different or even better way? Thanks! Lisa

Gedcom Didn't Sync

Genosis

No worries! I am thrilled with the program and will just use it as I have been. This has been the best way to share information, and the few folks I have invited to research have told me they are having fun! :-) :-) :-) I will do some tinkering this weekend to see if I can make a fresh tree with no duplicates. ~ Lisa

Hi, Brian!
I've been pondering this all night. LOL!
Yes, you are correct... I apparently do not have a master tree.. yet. :-) I have to figure that part out.

This is my original thought:
* I was going to have a default (main) tree with all the family history.
* I was going to have working trees with my fellow researchers adding to them.
* Periodically I was going to update the main tree with the working trees.

I believe I will have to revise my original thought and either dump all the working trees into the main tree and just let everyone work from it OR keep my working trees and never have a main tree... which seems silly.

Which leads to a new question.

I have created profiles for a few of my fellow researchers, and then I created them user accounts so they can add to their tree. If I blend all of my working trees into the main tree, will their user accounts be affected in any way? Thanks, Lisa :-)

Gedcom Didn't Sync

Genosis

I think that is what I am seeing. :-/

I didn't want to mess with any of my working trees, and I do not want to put anything into my default tree and end up with duplicates. I only have working trees, so I am not sure how to test it. I went through my profiles and deleted the duplicates that I did find. LOL! How should I test it without creating new profiles?

I didn't actually look to see how many duplicates there were, but there were more than 2. I actually went through all the profiles and deleted all the duplicates as it seems I was getting a little excited with the gedcoms! I created separate working trees for all the families, which resulted in some of the married couples and their children having duplicate profiles. I am pretty sure I caused my own issue accidently, and there were only duplicates due to Joe Smith being in both the Smith tree and in his wife's tree.

Which now has me thinking how I should be uploading the gedcoms. How do you upload your gedoms to your working trees? Meaning: How to you choose to handle the Joe Smith being in his tree and in his wife's tree? Thanks!
