When I am updating "Joe Smith" and I want to upload the 1880 census, is it best to do it from the sources section or from his profile in the tree? I've been uploading documents from the tree, but if there is a better way I'd like to do it that way instead. Sorry for the gazillion questions... ~ Lisa

Merging Trees

Yes! I want the Benson's to stay put in their tree, but still have them remain part of the larger tree as their profiles are updated! Is this possible? ~ Lisa

When I merge a small family tree into the main tree, what do I click to keep the family members in the small family tree so I can continue to work? I moved the Benson tree into the main one and now the Benson tree is empty of any family members... they are all in the main tree. Thanks! Lisa

Thank you! As you can tell, I have had a whole weekend to play and I've got lots of questions about the best way to do things! Now, do I click "researcher" to allow "Joe Smith" to upload his photographs and documents? Is it best to create a profile from someone under the user accounts module or being in the tree, clicking admin and then "create user account?" You are incredibly helpful, and I am having a lot of fun this weekend!

Where do I make the profile? What do I check mark if I want someone to be able to contribute to just one particular tree? For instance... Becky and I share ancestors with one family, and we want to work together on the tree and compile our information. I want her to be able to log into that family and upload her pictures and documents. And yes... you are very helpful!

I actually do not know what I did either! LOL! I created a new account using a different email address so I could log in that way and "see what they see" (not as admin). I have since deleted the user account and will play more with it today. ~ Lisa
