I'm wondering if there needs to be a "jimmy has joined the room" when someone selects a particular chat room?

If there are a bunch of chat rooms and someone's status is just showing as online, another chatter might think the user is ignoring a particular room since they aren't replying. During a heated argument this could be an annoying factor when the user sees the person as being online, but fails to reply.

Maybe a notice - under the name - in the online status that shows the active chatroom?

@michael one of the biggest things missing from Linux is Adobe. There are some alternatives, but the Adobe Creative Suite is still king by a wide margin. There is one thread on the Adobe forums about Linux and it's very long spanning over multiple years. There are some great alternatives on Linux. I'm glad the phpstorm is on Linux, that would've been a deal breaker for me. ;)

A lot more people would move over to Linux if access to the Adobe Creative Suite was available. Not having access to Adobe products is one of my biggest hang-ups about Linux.

Looks like it works for me on Firefox Fedora. Nice addition.

Yea, I guess for just chat that would be best. I was also referring to overall online on the site, because the user would still show up on the forum lists browsing the forum. Basically, two types of offline. One for the whole site and one for just chat.

I think the only two area would be the chatbox and the forum at the bottom. For IPB it's an option when you login. You can log in as "hidden" vs. "online". There isn't a specific setting to show if you're online or not, either you login as hidden or not. Honestly, I kind of like that way. If it was a setting I'd have to go into the settings every time and adjust if people could see me online or not.

Maybe there should be an option in the settings to disable the showing if a user is online? I know for one of my sites, I disable my online status so that I won't be bothered by people PMing me.

SteveX:
Is it worth the time spent to make a hackintosh? From reading about it you'll save a couple of hundred dollars, but not have the design of an apple.

I've done it in the past and it's pretty straight forward - as far as installing the software. Hardware mileage will vary depending on what you choose and how old it is. The hackintosh crowd is pretty good with making sure a good portion of hardware is supported, but not every mobo and peripheral is compatible.

I heard some good things about Linux Mint. I'm using Fedora right now and it's quite nice. Waiting to get all the parts delivered for my new system, then I'll really play around with Fedora.

I was also throwing around setting up a Mac via a hackintosh.

A button would be great. Some of the other software makers put the actual post number which is clickable. Maybe that would be better than a button?
