Repeating events - any tips?

Ning To Jamroom

Hey for those of you wanting to post multiple events that were the same event but on different dates, different locations, possibly some changed details, and they aren't on a regular schedule.... (e.g., our organization is offering basic training on widgets on 8/1/18 at 10:10am, 9/15/18 at 1:00 pm, 10/20/18 at 3:00 am, and 11/15/18 at 8:30 pm). I think I accidentally figured out a shortcut to do that.

I posted an event and indicated that it was recurring every day. I put an end date that corresponded to the number of events I wanted to post (so if I have 4 events, I used a date that was three days later.... e.g., original date 8/1/18, ending on 8/4/18). This created four identical events on 8/1, 8/2, 8/3, & 8/4. Then you can go in and change the dates, locations on each individual event post.

This seemed to work just fine. I had to give it a few minutes to make all the changes after saving each post that I edited. It was a lot quicker than creating a new event every time. If anyone else tries this, let me know if it worked for you.

Using Jamroom

Glad to see you're up and running again. I've been using site builder since migrating from Ning and it helps a non-techy person like me play around with messing stuff too much. LOL

The GDPR right to be forgotten - applies from May 25th 2018

Using Jamroom

So does anyone have a privacy policy and TOS that uses more appropriate 'GDPR language" or know of any good samples as Brian suggests below? I'd love to steal something from someone instead of reinventing the wheel.

brian:
Just wanted to add here that Jamroom is (as far as I can tell reading the GDPR requirements) already mostly GDPR compliant. The only thing a site might want to change is their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service to use more appropriate "GDPR language".

The only thing we are working on right now is an update to the User module that allows the site to change the "notifications" tab - this allows you to pick whatever format may be easier for your users, since a lot of the GDPR is about making it easy for a user to see HOW they will be contacted and how their data is used.

Note that the data retention period for the GDPR is (as far as I know) still a gray area - I do not believe you have to automatically delete a user's account if they have not logged in in X days, but instead you just must make it easy for the user to delete their account and in turn have it delete ALL their data (which JR already does).

Let me know if that helps or you know of a GDPR requirement that needs support on our end.

Thanks!

Repeating events - any tips?

Ning To Jamroom

So that's great.... thanks, Paul.

Now I have another question. Let's say I set up an event for next week Tuesday. I think it's a one-time event. However, three months from now I decide I want to do it again. Is there a way for me to just copy or duplicate the whole event, just changing the dates? Or do I need to click on Create a new event, and then copy and paste each part of the event? I'm looking for shortcuts here. Thanks!

hmmm... I don't seem to have recurring event or recurring end date as options when I open form designer on create event... I would just create them but not sure of how to do that....

Hey Paul - I think you posted a response to my question (I got an email saying so) but when I click on the discussion, nothing shows up.
