Using Jamroom

Hi Soaring Eagle,

Thanks for the input. I use the admin skin module to run a Nova clone on the front page and a Ningja clone everywhere else.

Everyone see both skins.

I don't have the CSS or Java skills to duplicate the aesthetics and functionality of my current front page in a Ningja clone.

I ended up in this predicament because Paul started me off (as the first Ning migrant) in a Nova skin but then Jamroom (seeing what was involved) opted to support the Ningja skin for migrants.

So now I need the functionality of Ningja in profiles and my Nova clone out on the front page.

The thing I can't figure out is on my real site I can make pages in the Ningja style but on my demo site they always take the Nova style.

So far I haven't found a reason for the difference.

Using Jamroom

I did some experimenting. I put the unmodified skins in the demo and reverted to sitebuilder 1.

That makes the set-up exactly the same as my "real" network - same sitebuilder version, same skin versions.

However, I saw no change in the issue. I could still not show or create pages in the desired style as the "real" network does.

So now I have reverted back (once again) to sitebuilder 2 and the newly done skins in the demo.

Based on that experiment, it doesn't seem to be related to skin or sitebuilder versions.

I must assume something else causes the difference in style, possibly the modification to the admin skin module you were talking about?

Perhaps the next experiment should be making the admin skin modules the same version, and seeing if that is the cause?

Thanks for the input Gary. I think the way it works is that admin skin allows you to have a completely different admin, profile and active skin (not recommended but possible).

The profile skin is the default site wide and the profile tweaks module allows individual users to deviate from that default - make sense?

Mailgun Issue

Installation and Configuration

Hi Brian,

I saw your message that this is fixed (at least in my account), so I resent the broadcast. I may get some complaints of spamming from the members who will receive it twice, but what else could I do?

I haven't noticed any new "capped at 300" message come back, so I assume that is verification that whatever you did worked - thanks.

Using Jamroom

Hi Michael,

We can continue to use the same URL's I gave above.

If you look at this page http://democo.jamroomhosting.com/categories you can see it is taking the Nova clone style from the active skin (Terminator 2)

Here is the same page on my "real" site and it's taking the Ninja clone style (Network skin) from the Admin/Profile sections http://indiegospel.net/categories

That is the thing I am not understanding - why is that? It's the same page, different style. I am expecting the demo to give me the same style as the real site.

The same thing happens if I create (not import) a page at the demo site - it takes the active skin but on my "real" network it takes the skin used in admin - profile sections.

********************

Now I don't know if I am "barking up the wrong tree" here or not, but what I have noted recently is the two sites are not set up the same in terms of where the sitebuilder code is installed.

On my "real" network it is not installed to the active skin, but only to the profile-admin sections.

On the demo site it's the opposite situation.

So my suspicion is - maybe that is why pages take a different style when imported or created on the demo site???

Again, that might be foolish to think - I don't know. Is it worth my time running experiments to confirm???

Mailgun Issue

Installation and Configuration

Hi Douglas,

I have already done that. I couldn't at first - it just gave me an error message when I tried saying it was suspended. Late yesterday the status changed to unverified and I was able to delete it.

Also just did the ACP thing. Thanks, I didn't know about that setting.

Again the issue now becomes - were my emails actually sent or do I need to resend?

Were some sent and the rest queued or were some discarded? I can't seem to get an answer on that.

Mailgun Issue

Installation and Configuration

Hi Michael,

I wish that were true. I tried to send from indiegospel.net but all they will talk about is demo.co

At least I was finally able to delete the demo.co entry from their panel (was denied at first). It had apparently been made by Jamroom's "back-end" software.

Now the problem is knowing what exactly got delivered and what didn't. I don't know if I need to resend and I don't want to spam people with two broadcasts.

I can't get a response, other than this meaningless garbage below about demo.co from yesterday.

**********************************

Hello Ken,

I apologize for the delayed response, we're currently on a skeleton crew due celebrating Thanksgiving.

Our system periodically checks all domains in our environment to verify that the records are still in place. Your domain may have been verified previously, but your DNS record have changed. Doing a public lookup on the DKIM (smtp._domainkey.demo.co) and SPF (demo.co) records return an incorrect value. You can use the following tool to check the value of your DNS records across servers around the world.

https://www.whatsmydns.net/#TXT/smtp._domainkey.demo.co
https://www.whatsmydns.net/#TXT/demo.co

You will need to update your DNS records to include the correct values seen in your control panel. https://mailgun.com/app/domains/demo.co

Once the domain has been verified, you will be able to send over the 300 message limit.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Mailgun Issue

Installation and Configuration

Hi Brian,

Actually it is a Jamroom issue - kind of.

When you got me to create a "dummy" site or developer site for test purposes, Jamroom's "back-end" software apparently created an account for it in Mailgun.

Since it is not a "real" site, I'm not intending to send mail out. I can't verify it since I don't own demo.co it's just something I put to fill the blank, since Jamroom required something.

However, now they won't send mail out of my "real" network because of the "demo".

This is messed up...

It's already verified - has been for ages. Shows all green in their panel for DNS settings.

Yet they still limited me to 300 today as if I was unverified and I can't get them to answer a support ticket.

I had already contacted some people on Facebook and told them to watch for the email but my broadcast never went out.

It's really aggravating me - I hate mailgun - gggrrrrr.
