Moving Jamroom 4

Installation and Configuration

Here is the link to our Import services - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/serviceshop

Please note that whilst we did this a lot a few years ago when Jamroom5 first came out, we have not done it now for a long time and there have since been many releases of Jamroom5+ that may have introduced issues with the Import module.

What I suggest you do is raise a support ticket with us giving the location of the sites, their admin logins and FTP access (so that I can install the modules). I can then assess as to whether the process still works with the latest Jamroom.

Thanks

Moving Jamroom 4

Installation and Configuration

The easiest way to do this is to use the jrImport module. Its documentation is here - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/modules/868/jamroom-4-import

The Jamroom4 site needs to be working so I suggest you reinstall it on a sub-folder on your server. The jrImport should then be able to access it and import all data and files.

Files

Using Jamroom

Jamroom servers are accessed by SFTP, a more secure version of FTP, but most FTP client apps support that. All the SFTP parameters are on your server info page here -
Jamroom Profile=>Hosting=>Dashboard=>Server Settings

It can likely be removed from the template. Let us know what skin you are using and we'll tell you where to look.

Creating a music history site using Genosis

Jamroom Developers

Hi Mick - This sounds very similar to an idea I had a few years back, again inspired by our Genosis project, I wanted to be able to create 'band family trees' similar to what Pete Frame did in the 60s and 70s with his Rock Family Trees.
I did some work on this at the time, and all that is left of it is this old development website here - https://bandjuice.com/ - The only tree on it is mine with all the bands and musicians I was involved with at the time.
Because it's Jamroom based there's lots of scope for further development, but it fizzled out due to lack of time and direction etc. I did have a grand plan for an 'organic' site with users building their own trees that would then automatically link to other trees via common musicians. It was one of those good ideas at the time lol
Is that the sort of thing you had in mind?
